Wasn't that 10 years earlier? If my memory serves me correctly it was the first match of the season after our promotion from the old 3rd Division South.
It's also worth noting that main TV cameras will be in the big west stand - so the impression will be of a fairly small stadium seating 10,000 on three sides.
Pity really.
I've ticked off stage 1 on the Falmer timeline that was in the programme on Sat. Only 26 stages to go.
Compared to watching a road being widened, what follows is going to be awesome. Soon we're going to see a H U G E hole - and levelling of a site which is currently on a fairly pronounced...
Cox's improvement since Slade arrived is no coincidence. As for his crosses methinks that Adams was obsessed with corners to the near post and there's a very fine dividing line between success and failure. You see crap near post corners all the time on TV, even in the premiership.
Let him go I say - if we can get a few quid from the cash unstrapped LAG, so much the better. Besides Doug Loft has looked the part against Swindon and Colchester.
What a great anthem that would be - the 'we are seagulls' bit. Think someone would have to find alternative words to 'A Twenty Seven, just near Moulsecoomb' Any ideas?
I would expect there to be a f*** off site board proclaiming a major development like this. And it's something that all parties - the club, Buckingham, architects, sub-contractors, city council etc - would share in. It needs to be clearly visible from the A27 so that I can experience a warm damp...
I should add that the club produce a 'weekly' (their word, not mine) stadium gallery which, unlike Mr Straws' pics are shot against a backcloth of dark and threatening skies. However, like MP's 'weekly' (their word, not mine) stadium blog, it seems that a week is at least 14 days long in...
Jack Straw's excellent photo diary just doesn't come round quickly enough.
Village Way widening nearing completion? Are the lamposts up? Are the giant muck shifters in position ready to start excavating the stadium site next week?
Nice if we had another photographer to do a mid-week session...
I have friends who support Man U, Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. In every respect I regard them as good friends - except in a footballing context, in which case they are parasites.
They have not a trace of emotional DNA linking them to the teams they support. They rarely if ever watch their...
Going back in time - Bob McNicol. Full-back in the early 60's and a real hard man. Famous for the 35 yard thunderbolt in an FA Cup match against Burnley (3-3) - then league champions. Small boy then but I remember it well. Sadly he and his family were killed in the Tenerife air disaster in 1980.
Martin's stadium diary on website now. Talks mainly about the City College issue - but finishes by saying the major excavation works for the stadium start next month. Once that's underway I can concentrate on worrying about when the steel's arriving!
