If that is all you are after then that's fair enough,but the long term will take care of it's self-what this club needs and don't get me wrong we need to get there and the quicker the better,so a slight contradiction from me here,but what we really need is to achieve this at the right pace and to sustain long term stability at this (Championship level) at worst...

I agree with you that we need to build a team capable of getting into the Premiership and staying there. I think we are looking at five years in the Championship and I am extremely happy with the club's plans regarding the building of the youth academy facility and development squad.

The best post in this thread. If Gus went yet, I would be horrified. A new manager at this stage of our development, would probably undo all Gus and Tanno's work.

I'm definitely not one of the five or six people that are moaning about Gus, but no one is irreplacable, and I think our chairman has enough about him to get the right manager in should Gus leave. Look at Swansea. They lost Martinez, that may have set them back a bit but they carried on with the same direction and the same philosophy and look where they are now.

I don't think he'll go to Wolves anyway. I think there are Premiership clubs that might look at him this summer that could tempt him away.
Obviously he'd go to Villa even if they went down, if they wanted him.

Tanno just kept going down the tunnel. he may have had a quick wave, but that would have been it max. Poyet followed him after a very brief acknowledgement whilst still walking down the tunnel. The players were unsure what to do, and some gave fans their shirts, others posed for pics, but generally, it was a flop compared to the usual thanking of the fans on the last day of the season. Maybe he felt we had failed to "do our job" of supporting the team?

More likely he knew the Barnsley fans were about to invade the pitch, as they did, and that the whole end of season thing had been done at home to Birmingham. I was there and it didn't bother me particulary. It only bothers you because you are looking for something to attack Gus with.

I think the point is Gus has worked out who he wants to keep and what targets he has. A new manager would have to come in and decide for himself. Some players may not fit his ideas and you have to start again. It might work fine but personally I believe it would be a blow, especially given it may take a while to get a new person in.

Well, clearly you did not talk with many others about it - those I spoke with were amazed at his attitude! Clearly, if it did not "particularly" bother you, it must have bothered you a little? To say the "end of season thing" had been done at the AMEX last week, simply ignores the traditional last day "thing". Maybe all those who dressed up, were a week too late?

we have just gone from 6,900 crowds-we won promotion last season on a budget of that so budget is not the be all or end all but it very much helps-

Have we? I think you are kidding yourself. If we had the money to buy those players when we were at Withdean, Peter Taylor would never have walked, and Mark Magoo would have had a good chance of taking us up, let alone fighting relegation.

If you are suggesting Gus will be given a larger budget next year, I think that needs to be seen, given the investment in additional seats and the training ground. Who much more money do people expect TB to plough into the Club?

Clearly the AMEX is a fantastic success, and over time, the revenues it brings will provide a strong footing for the club. However, to massively increase our Playing Budget at this stage, would require further investment for the CAPEX items from TB.

Ralf is not particularly well at the moment. He left Schalke in September due to health reasons.

I was there at the last day of the season.

What you describe yesterday is largely what happened at Notts County. Minus the players giving their shirts away.

Poyet's far more likely to get a massive job one day if he makes us a prem yo-yo side than if he keeps wolves as one. The risk is far greater moving there too.

Villa if they came down is a massive risk but if they stayed up could see him being interested. Again though he should be able to keep them up fine, but if he didn't his chances of a massive job would be toast! Much better to stay here and keep things going in the right direction.

I think that we would miss Gus more than some people realise. I think that we have some weaknesses in the quality of players (particulalrly in some positions), and that this is countered by Gus's style of playing, which permeates the club. This way of playing menas that the whole is often more than the sum of the parts; I am not sure eveyone gets this. When people express frustration at the style I think it is simply that the players cannot always execute it as well as Gus would like. There are periods of some games when it clicks and it looks great. I think Peterborough away last season was probably the best example of it clicking for a whole game. However, it is probably unrealistic to expect the likes of Ashely Barnes and Alan Navarro to produce this all of the time. I think that if another manager came in he may well struggle with this set of players.

I did not like him much before yesterday, after his "end of season" acknowledgement of the fans who had gone all that way for an early kick-off match yesterday, he can't go quickly enough for me!

Totally agree. On Talk Sport yesterday they had a Villa fan on who said if they went down he would like Poyet, just the kind of manager to get them playing again and back into the Premiership.......and I thought to myself "Shit, that sounds just the kind of club that Poyet would aspire to...."

Their fans also say they hate defensive/negitive football (as played by mcleish). We play good football, sideways and backwards. Cant see him lasting 2mins...............

I can't believe you're getting so upset over such a small thing. What did you expect, for Gus to come and shake the hand of each and every supporter? Is it seriously that much of a requirement to you that a manager has to acknowledge you at a match, when he's probably got far more pressing issues to sort out?

Anyway, just for you:
