New Falmer Pictures in the programme

This is a DISGRACE. Where are the CYCLE PARKING FACILITIES? I'm slightly with Bag. I believe it'll happen, but I can't believe there won't be some sort of cockup along the way.
  2. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Sir Ian Botham, refuses to climb ?

I once commentated on Colchester United v Stockport County after climbing onto a garage roof, and then up a 20ft ladder. Carrying broadcasting gear weighing about 30 kilos in a flight case. Botham, quite frankly, is a f***ing wuss.

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

There is no plan to shut down the FM band at all. For starters, it's just too useful in an emergency. And there's no use for it other than radio, so the government might as well keep on raising money out of it. Starry -- as for putting your Reciva radio near your wireless router, I had heard it...

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

I really can recommend the IR100. At the very least you should get one which uses Reciva software, as it can pick up stations which "broadcast" in WMA, MP3 and Real Audio format. Not all radios are compatible with all formats -- but Reciva ones are.

    Phil Babb

El Largio, have you ever had any other footballers in your shop (uninvited)? And have they bought shirts from the teams for which they used to play?
  6. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

Nope, cos it hasn't got speakers. And I like to get out of the shower, then get dressed in my room, then make breakfast in the kitchen without having to stop listening or carry anything about. It's bordering on the obsessive, I'm aware, but it's my job...
  7. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

No, it picks up the internet stream which is pumped out from the radio station. So you can't get, say, Albion commentaries on it, because the BBC doesn't own the rights to broadcast them on the internet. But you can get the Premiership games , and other sport, which Five Live has the rights to...

Get on Your bike - LOndon

The Londond Cycling Campaign website is probably the best for cyclists in London. Or elsewhere, for that matter.

    PICS?

Get on Your bike - LOndon

This is a BRILLIANT idea -- and one that I'll CERTAINLY want the candidates in the mayoral election to support in order to get my vote. All they need to do now is bring back guards' vans on trains so they can carry as many bikes as they used to.

    free antivirus software

    Why? AVG is fine.
  12. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

I've got FIVE DABs (bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, a portable one, and a device that makes my iPod into a DAB) and an internet radio (lounge) and two FM radios (one in the car, one spare).

    Office Buzzwords

There's a thread about this every fortnight on NSC. But I still hate people who say "going forward", as in "we aim to decrease our overheads going forward". Just say "in the future". It makes you sound less of a ****.
  14. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

Like I said, only more concisely put. Lucky I don't write things for a living, isn't it? Wait a minute, that's not right.:jester:
  15. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

The actual cost of running a transmitter and buying the rights to the bandwidth is not that much greater than broadcasting one station on FM. Because GCap have several national digital stations, this obviously costs them quite a bit. But not all that much in terms of their overall...
  16. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

Will DAB become BBC-only? I don't think so. The licences are handed out by Ofcom, and can be bought and sold between broadcasters. So the market will ensure they always find a price. But that doesn't mean the BBC won't dominate. Heavily. I'm not sure what you mean by "going to Sky" for radio...
  17. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

Is DAB the new Eight Track?

DAB was actually developed jointly by the BBC and Commercial Radio Companies Association. GCap, which owns Southern FM, Classic FM, Planet Rock, and loads of other stations has announced it's going to shut down its national digital-only stations (you'll still be able to get Southern on DAB)...
