really don’t see what he adds to the current squad profile-wise, especially at the fee being reported, but this is another point where you really just have to trust the recruitment model. it’s data above all else and if that says he’s worth the fee then so be it

We're like a dog with a bone with this lad which makes me think the data overwhelmingly makes the case for signing him.

Lewis Dunk had only played League One and sparse Championship football at the same age.

It feels like he's not going to be one of those kids/players that we 'flip' for profit , he could be here for the next 10 years, as ridiculous as that sounds, so £10million isn't as extravagant as it might appear. No pressure though!

Is this the first genuine and true case of “I know a Derby season ticket holder and he says he’s shitehouse”?
Not sure, but I can just about hear some Brighton supporters clearing their throats and getting ready to BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

His lack of pace is a concern for me when I assume that FH would prefer to play a higher defensive line. Also looks like second, third or even fourth choice after missing out on other targets.

******CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ALERT*******

We don’t need ‘pace’ at centre back as long as we are very well organised.

At corners, Baleba is the last man forward. No better players in the Premier League looking at his pace, strength and tackling ability.

Hurzeler can't even play his preferred formation of three at the back because we haven't got any central defenders with any pace who can do that.

It does beg the question would people prefer a cheaper quick fix CB signing like this which sounds like it could be done this week, OR wait until the summer and go all out for perhaps a higher profile 'choice A' CB signing?

Personally I'd prefer to wait rather than get a quick fix (Matt Clarke type stop gap) and really go for a Boscagli or someone else in the summer when we have more time.

If you could choose what would you prefer?

I've never really got this narrative on Igor. In terms of performance, he's never let us down, but even in the last dregs of the de Zerbi era, when Dunk was in arguably his worst patch of form for the club, Igor seemed to get all the flack from fans.

He's always been a more than able PL defender just not at LB, which is arguably fair given he's built like a tank
Don't get me wrong, I love Igor, but he's just never looked settled and could be offered a better option than bit-part with us. His best partnership seems to be with Webster, and the likelihood of those two regularly starting is pretty much zero.

I’ve not seen this guy play too many times but when I have seen him (3 or 4 times) Ive always thought he looked slow and ponderous.
Got to trust the club of course but I can’t see what he offers us

Let’s be honest chaps I don’t think any of us have really seen enough of him to form a solid opinion, our scouting network gets it right more often than it gets it wrong so let’s get behind the lad if he signs and hope he’s a good fit.
