The cat would have staged it to look like an accident. Dogs are too stupid/loyal.Perhaps they popped some pills and dropped a few that one dog ate. A cat wouldn't be so stupid.

He didn't autograph it with his full name, he just signed it using his nickname, which is allegedly how Gene "Smeg" Hackman often used to sign his autograph. He autographed your fridge !
I bet you feel quite smeg about this?Amongst my fav actors. RIP big guy. We’ve had his autograph on our fridge for years!
Very much this. The French Connection in my top 5 favourite films, and I can watch it time and again very happily.
After reading a Peter Bradshaw (Guardian) article about him yesterday, it was vaunting some of his films I don’t actually know. What a body of top, top work.
It would appear that Hackman's wife died first, from hantavirus, with Hackman then being alive for up to a week before he perished from heart disease (with severe signs of Alzheimer's):-
Did you read the article in the tweet? I have no other information.I’m still a little unclear. Was he alone in the house with her body for a week? And what about the dog?
Looks like he was. But there is even a suggestion he wasn't aware of her death. Such was his dementia. Awful when folk go this way.I’m still a little unclear. Was he alone in the house with her body for a week? And what about the dog?
Actually, I've just re-looked at the article and it has been updated with further information. Dogs do not die of hantavirus; there will be a necropsy performed on the animal.Did you read the article in the tweet? I have no other information.
In case you didn't - yes, he is believed to have been alive for one week after his wife died. As for the dog - who knows? Died of starvation if it was no longer being fed? Died of heartbreak? Maybe the dog also got hantavirus?![]()
I appreciate you may be neurodivergent, so I’m going to give you a little latitude as always. Your posts are probably unintentionally hostile, and I know that people on the autism spectrum struggle with maintaining conversations.Did you read the article in the tweet? I have no other information.

According to the article the dog that died was crated, so presumably no access to food or water. The other two dogs were running free, so could fend for themselves.Did you read the article in the tweet? I have no other information.

Yep, doing a bit more digging it seems the poor animal was found in her crate with the door closed (that AP article didn't actually state whether it was closed or not) - A New Report Sheds Light On What Happened To Gene Hackman's DogsAccording to the article the dog that died was crated, so presumably no access to food or water.
