Loved this scene from The Royal Tenenbaums. Its a heartbreaking film in some ways about age, parenthood and dysfunctional familes.
He's the best thing in it persuading , despite everything, that his kids actually need him. (also agree about The Conversation. What a film)

I wasn't overly keen on his accent - but he was excellent in A Bridge Too Far.

“Goddammit! All winter long I got to listen to him gripe about his bowling scores. Now I'm gonna bust your ass for those three bags and I'm gonna nail you for picking your feet in Poughkeepsie.”

One of the greatest, the first film I was aware of him was The French Connection. What a catalogue of work.

RIP.
I didn’t go to the game in Marseille but I visited on a drive to Tuscany about 20 years ago. I thought I’d stepped into a scene from the film in the area we stopped in. Very threatening.

R.I.P. Gene!

My favourite Gene Hackman film was, of course, Hoosiers

The story of a basketball team from a small Indiana town that overcame great odds to win the state championship.
I always list this film as a hidden gem, in the UK it's known as Best Shot, but many don't know about it. Dennis Hopper received an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for this film.

Gas leak perhaps?

Either way, awful shame
That's what I've been thinking.

Two of my friends at University had a faulty gas flue. One died and the other was on a life support machine for weeks although she survived. Didn't stop her being brain damaged and last I heard she still requires round-the-clock care. Dreadful. The landlord got sued for thousands and thousands of pounds. B*st*rd.

Anyway, RIP to the Hackman family. :(

With an old man who was just so full of hate that he didn't know being poor was what was killing him

An absolute masterpiece of a film. Just so many good quotes.
  • Mayor Tilman: Do you like baseball, do you, Anderson?
  • Anderson: Yeah, I do. You know, it's the only time when a black man can wave a stick at a white man and not start a riot.
The shitkicker scene the gloves finally come off! Such an intense film, the music is brilliant as well.

A great and unique actor. RIP him and his wife.
