I picked up a load of stuff for lunch, and for later, but when I got to the till, it came to £17 and I only had £10 on me.

I love your arguement that says: well just go out and earn more. Do you genuinely believe that those earning the national average in years gone by couldn't afford a house.

In 1993 my parents bought their house for 75k.
It is now worth over 300k.
How much has the salary for whatever job you do done up in the past 15 years?

Well said couldnt agree more, and the worst part about it is the people who dont have a big lump sum to get their first step on the ladder are normally paying more in rent than they would be on a mortgage.

I actually agree with a lot of what you say, especially about the police unfortunately, what ever happened to police walking the streets keeping a general eye on things and trying to stop trouble before it goes too far, where are they when someone is being beaten to a pulp - usually six cars full of them waiting to catch the dreaded 32mph drivers, dont care what anybody says driving at 32mph is nowhere near as dangerous as some hooded chav scum beating people up because they are wearing the wrong clothes or something equally stupid.

My point as well . You can make an even better long term investment if you wait a year or two for this to bottom out.

I wouldn't make this argument if you intend to live in it, but buying to rent at present is a dead loss.

In addition the buyer needs to be aware that many landlords are unloading the dross from their portfolios, so there is an even greater chance of buying a turkey, either that has structural problems or has been found to be in a poor letting area.

I won't blame a single party as all politicians are just as bad as the rest. All parties have their good and bad points.

What we need to happen is for the paperwork to be streamlined again and the police to concentrate on the human impact crimes first, NOT the cash cows of speeding and drinking
