Ahh thanks very much. I'll probaby do that rather than drive as it costs £9,40 return.

I'm sure that I saw a quote from Martin Perry the other day saying that the majority of visiting fans will travel by coach. Unless we have made away tickets conditional on including coach travel (highly unlikely) then I think Mr Perry is being incredibly optimistic.

I think (but can't be arsed to check atm) that the "coach travel only" option for away fans is quoted in the BHCC Officer's Report on the Race Hill P&R that goes to the Council's Planning Committee tomorrow so it must still form part of the Club's Transport Management Plan. How they're going to enforce it, I haven't a clue.

When ? Nothing is booked more than 4 coaches there. The club is stewarding outside the station with q's and inside the station area will be railway staff but nothing has been finalised yet.

March? I was walking by the river between Lewes and Southease. Suggests it is physically possible.

According to the Brighton & Hove buses website it says No 28 to Uckfield (Crowborugh & Tunbridge Wells evenings and Sundays only) perhaps that is why I have never seen a number 28 only 29 when visiting my son in Crowborough.

Apologies if it has been answered before on one of the other Amex travel threads but ...

What is the maximum passenger capacity of a single train carriage?

It's a rough estimate, for say millwall and palace.

I keep seeing this figure of 2,250 used for the away end too for some reason. It's 2,600 people.

It must be all those post and threads over the years where we talked about 10% away allocations. Several newspaper articles still refer to our £93M stadium with a 22,500 capacity , isn't the cost now approaching £100M with the upgrades made to restaurant facilities and the 1901ers in the East Stand overspill in our 22,374 capacity stadium ?

It varies ... but the 3-coach Class 313 trains that run to Falmer were built with 232 seats per train. With standing passengers, they can probably carry about 120 - 150 passengers per carriage.

Jesus, what is this? Bus spotting central? Lol. It's actually the 28 and 29(and 29b and 29x?).

But the 29X only operates one journey each way on weekdays and (I think) one back from BTN on a Saturday, probably doesn't stop at Falmer as it is an "express" service.

Bus anorak and proud.

Top anoraking. The 29X runs non-stop (Mondays to Saturdays) from Coldean Lane to Lewes Bus Station (via the Lewes Bypass and Cuilfail Tunnel). In the other direction, though, it does stop at Falmer Station (but on Mondays to Fridays only).

Ok , probably a fair estimate for those games - for other teams it will be a lot less than 90%.

I can now turn in basking in the warm glow of Lord B's approval!

My approval ain't worth a JOT! See ... I've had to alter my original post, to correct the schoolboy error I made. The Brighton to Tunbridge Wells journey leaves Churchill Square at 5.15 pm.

If you want to catch it post match, you can walk to Coldean Lane.

There might be as many/few as 1200 - 1500 people wanting to travel by train from Brighton.

Eh?

That wouldn't even account for the away fans. Let alone the fact that the trains are already over half full.

I agree, but I think we need to look at the probable worst case scenario.

That's not what the Club's survey of season ticket purchasers found.

30 per cent of Albion supporters - suggesting about 6,000 people in total - put train down as their first choice of travel method. Substantially more than half of those will be coming from the Brighton end.

For away fans, is there no land north of the city (which would be good enough for almost all opponents) that could be used for Park and Ride just as Southampton do for St Marys? Seems to work well there and the car park is a considerable distance from the ground.. 20 minutes or so.
