I tend to agree with you. I'd like to think we'll all eventually find something which works for us. It might take a good few months to try different options and modes of transport but I have faith.

I think it's crucial the park and rides work well though, and I also think it's crucial people's expectation of park and ride is reasonable; some folk seem to believe public transport should deliver them from door to door at the moment of their choice.

Give it a chance.
I don't really think anybody's saying that. I think everybody accepts that they will have to queue and wait in much the same way that people who drive into Brighton expect to have to circle around looking for a parking space. It's just modern life.

Despite my questioning of what we might expect, I agree. I shall be using public transport to get to games - for the simple reason that I'd rather not fret behind the wheel of my own car, imagining that I can fight my way through the traffic, if only that bastard in the car in front would get out of the feckin' way.

I can't see the good citizens of Brighton and Hove tolerating reduced frequency bus services, just because there is a football match on - and it would be crazy for B&H Buses to ignore the fact that they have getting on for 200,000 passengers a day to keep happy.

Well it has been happening for the past few seasons. On a regular basis there were 49s and 50s taken off the road to provide cover for the football P&R due to lack of drivers as the priority was to run the P&R buses to avoid any loss of revenue from the hire.

I guess we will all see how it pans out on 30th July and 6th August

According to Big Lemon's website which may not be up to date they have 7 or 8 coaches/regular single decker buses (plus 3 vehicles out on loan) which potentially could be used on Saturdays. Big Lemon is being squeezed by B&H Buses putting additional buses on the 25 route which competes with BL's 42 and 44 services. Running football specials might be the zest needed to keep Big Lemon afloat.

Are the Club letting them be part of the Travel Voucher scheme?

So we can get a little perspective on this, how do you think the situation should have been handled in order to bring us into line with some of the other new stadia that have been built in the last few years?

I think of MK Dons, Yeovil, Colchester, Wycombe and the like.

You seem a tad smug about the whole thing. Got a car parking space quietly tucked away by any chance?

No I'll be on a bus, I don't have a car. As the crow flies, I'm not too far away except for a big hill and the Falmer Road, plus some livestock, make the walk abit difficult.

Living in Hailsham, East Sussex outside the £1 travel zone, the Seagull coach travel at £6.04 per match on a season travel ticket basis (without needing to buy a £25 book of Albion travel vouchers) seems good value, particularly as coaches will be leaving in a convoy with a police escort 30-40 minutes after each game to clear traffic congestion around Falmer. Just hope the coach will be taking me home rather than to the local Nick.
