Do you think the Albion will be advising visiting clubs to tell their fans travelling by train to actually book to Brighton and then catch a bus to Falmer and back again ?

I think it would be better advising them to travel to Lewes and change for Falmer. Of course a lot will want to spend some time in Brighton so may train straight into the City.

I don't know if you've picked this up before but the stadium planning application has all 2,250 away fans travelling to the Amex by supporters coach.

My pub was in BH but I now live in HH so will get wife to drive me to the station and pick me up. Most of the roads around the station have yellow lines but there is a car park next to the station but I think it operates from 4.00am until 2.00am following day. There is an NCP car park 1st road on the right going up Perrymount Rd which is at the roundabout, NCP is about 200yds from station total distance.

Was this information about 2,250 away fans turning up in supporters coaches supplied by Edmund Blackadder ? Lets hope Baldrick has a cunning plan.

I think it is fair to say that a large number of visiting supporters are going to want to spend the morning and early part of the afternoon drinking in Brighton, even if the official advice from the Club is that they would be better served passing a quiet hour playing the fruit machine at the Laughing Fish in Isfield and looking round the gift shop at the Lavender Line before getting a 729 bus.

Many of them will have started drinking at 11am, will carry on till twenty to three, then descend on the station in the expectation of a train to Falmer. I can see this causing big problems.

Problem solved , Lord Canning will be at Brighton Station as the club's ambassador explaining the difficulties of getting to Falmer before half -time

Quite, it's sounds like something that's up with fairies.
Tbh you might influence away fans travel arrangements by not selling them any travel vouchers (TV) which will exclude them from the three P&R's if you make possession of a TV an entry requirement. All the Univ & Bennett's Field parking looks to be for home supporters only so if there's really going to be no on-street parking allowed near the stadium then what choice do they have?

unless network rail install a crossover at falmer station trains cannot run like football specials at withdean because the trains cannot transfer on to the southbound lines if the train travels southbound on the northbound line it will stop any trains from operating northbound

I'm sure that I saw a quote from Martin Perry the other day saying that the majority of visiting fans will travel by coach. Unless we have made away tickets conditional on including coach travel (highly unlikely) then I think Mr Perry is being incredibly optimistic.

I'm interested in this direct route from Ashford to Falmer. I can't seem to find anything other than a brighton train that requires a change at Lewes.

Yep. The Ashford to Brighton train goes through Falmer, but doesn't stop. Change at Lewes and wait seven minutes for a connecting train to Falmer, leaving from the same platform.

729??!!! Where have you been daddio, it's been the 28 for years now. Funnily enough we were considering getting that bus from TW, on the plus side it leaves 2mins from my flat and stops right outside Falmer Station. On the minus side it takes 1hr 20mins or so. Mmmh.

What?
The 729 is now the 28....? Next you'll be telling me that your change doesn't come down a little chute anymore and they aren't green Southdown buses

I'd suggest a coach is the least favoured mode of transport, so yes, optimistic unless it's conditional.

I posted ages ago that the plan is to substitute the Ashford 2 car diesel that arrives in Brighton approx 1720 with an 8 coacher 377 stock stopping additionally at Falmer at 1710. This is what they do at the Eastbourne Airshow weekend too, the Seafords can't be strenghtened as they are 313 stock so will run as 3 cars due to the problems on the Seaford line with longer trains.

Thanks Ernest that's very plausible. One point, I have seen 6 car trains operating on the Seaford branch recently.
