BBC - Knight had talks with Holloway THIS MORNING

Queens Park Rangers have launched a bid to sign Chelsea's highly-rated striker Leon Knight.
The 20-year-old had a loan spell at Loftus Road in 2001 and is currently on loan at Brighton, who have also made him an offer.

Both Second Division clubs have agreed a deal with Chelsea for his permanent signing and a decision now rests with the player.

Knight held talks with QPR manager Ian Holloway on Tuesday morning and is now considering his future.

He scored both goals as Brighton beat an understrength QPR side 2-1 at the Withdean Stadium on Monday.

But Rangers' bid to sign him began before then.

Knight is one of the best strikers in this division and I think QPR should do as much as possible to bring him in

Holloway made his move for Knight after selling midfielder Richard Langley to Cardiff last week and had hoped to have him on board by the time his side faced Steve Coppell's men.

Knight was once tipped as a future replacement for Gianfranco Zola at Chelsea.

But he has been unable to establish himself in the first-team at Stamford Bridge, and as well as his spells with Rangers and Brighton, he has been loaned to Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.

Why would he sign for QPR tonight if his agent is having talks with Dick Knight and Steve Coppell tomorrow? Says on the QPR website that he is going back to Brighton whilst he thinks about the offer. I am sure our players will be putting a bit of pressure on him to sign for us rather then QPR. 50-50 at the moment I think.

Oh great. Prolong the misery. We have to sit here in a sweat while Leon ploughs a furrow up and down the M23 in his pedal car.

Sorry but I'm feeling hacked off.....

I bet Guy Butters has got some weighty arguments :)

Unlike Sidwell he didn't stop playing for us when he knew QPR were in for him.

I'm hopeful that he felt he had to listen to what QPR had to say
but that his heart and future is here. SC or Holloway will be what swings it imo.

Just my 2 pence worth amongst the doom and gloom (or straw clutching, take your pick)

QPR fans site says the deal is taking a bit longer to tie up but Leon is definitely joining them 'fact - not a rumour' to quote them

Hope you're right. In which case all QPR have done is probably push up the salary of a player we were going to sign anyway, leaving us with less to spend on other players in our fight with them for Div 2 promotion ..... hang on, I think I see what this is all about....

Q.P.R. are big team who hoof the ball. Knight wouldn't fit in. He prefers our style of football.

Message from a QPR fan on there :nono: :

Worse than we felt when Mark Kennedy and Darren Ward left us at the end of their loans when we hoped they'd stay...This would be far worse for them. I hope he signs for us, but you can still feel (a little) sorry for Brighton.
And if he does chose to sign for Brighton, he will be a super hero at the club (more than he would be if he signed for us)

What a post...got me giggling in these difficult times.

"Leon The Pedal Car Superstar" would make a brilliant children's book: small child peddles car uphill to training ground every day then goes on to score winning goal in cup final etc etc.

C'mon sign for us you little sod, I can't take any more....

On NSC for over two decades...
I don't think Loftus Road itself is necessarily a draw, it's an old ground and the capacity is only 19,148 (all seated). Falmer will be bigger and better (if a few years off yet).

When it comes to the crunch I think it'll come down to the manager, and lets face it Steve Coppel is the best manager in the division.
