THE OFFICIAL LEON KNIGHT THREAD - Will he or wont he?

Whatever happens in this saga, we must not lose out because of finance. If we cannot match a potless QPR for wages then we are in trouble. I would fear for our ability to get any decent forward in, and we have to replace the Zamora goals otherwise we are going nowhere this season.

If we can match the money but LK chooses QPR for any other reasons ie family, history, percieved bigger clubness etc then we will just have to live with it. But even in the short time he has been here LK has proved himself to be invaluable to the team already. It's not just his pace and ability to sneak into good positions in the box, but he has got a thundering shot from distance and an eye for a good cross.

I think we have a lot offer LK and in SC, DK and the rest of the team have powerful advocates for us, lets hope they can get through to him.

And as for rumours, apparently Langley, who recently left for cardiff, has been bad mouthing the club and warning players off going to Rangers due to their lack of cash, hence Mcleod opting for a loan rather than deal. Who knows could be a load of the old proverbial? But if true then maybe we may look the better deal.

Scenario A - Next Monday Kanchelskis makes his Brighton debut and creates all 3 goals for Leon Knight who signed the previous week and celebrated with another brace against Barnsley.

Scenario B - Both turn us down and misery rules supreme. Sh*t F*ck B*llocks!

Next couple of days will shape the rest of our season. Keep em crossed boys and girls!

Call me cynical - but it will all boil down to money.

I agree with many that at least with us he would get more first team football, but with agents getting their fingers in the pie MONEY is what will count.

I thought it was interesting to see all the QPR players pat Leon on the back after the game last night. Most losing teams give a vague hand shake and either piss off to the changing rooms or argue with the ref straight after a game.

Lets hope there's a bit of loyalty in the lad and he decides to stay.

But if he did go I would'nt put it past SC to unearth another gem from somewhere.

If we don't sign him no doubt there will be the mother of all backlashes against DK but let's all try and put this in perspective.

If another club has come in he could be offered better money than we can offer and we are paying good wages to Ben Roberts. Economies of scale say you can only pay so much to balance the books and DK has always remained committed to doing this and also had the handicap of financing a major project -Falmer.

If we were to start going a la Sunderland and spending money in advance of receiving it this goes horribly wrong - Sunderland, Leicester etc have all fallen fowl of this. Those clubs just trying to survive struggle - York, Oldham, Barnsley etc.

I would prefer the club to remain financially healthy in the run up to Falmer than risk all on Leon Knight - there may well be other players lined up if this falls through.

I don't think Rangers will be able to offer Knight a better cash + benefits deal.

i) At QPR he will be at best a squad player

ii) At the Albion he will have a shirt week in/week out. If he keeps scoring he'll be clocking up the bonuses.

A win/win situation really

Come on Leon, you know it makes sense.
