1) Putting your shoes on the wrong feet is not the same as claiming that your opponents are controlling the weather, resulting in the damage seen in Florida etc.
2) Diane Abbott's behaviour did affect how people saw the Labour Party, because she represented them, just like Marjorie Taylor Greene represents the Republican Party.

Um no.
Watch out for the communist weather lasers.

lol dude let it go, none of those articles are accusing meteorologists of messing with the weather.

Thats your mob on CBS, weather lasers from 10 years ago.

Of course those articles aren't accusing meteorologists! No-one has said they are!!

The articles are referring to the online threats made towards meteorologists by people who have seemingly been influenced into thinking that meteorologists are to blame for the weather. And some of that recent influence has come from the likes of Greene.

Um no what?

We all know that it's possible to make small localised weather effects, but we cannot create Hurricanes. Hurricanes like Milton have the force of thousands of nuclear bombs.

Are you deliberately mocking yourself?

If only we would eliminate the use of all fossil fuels hurricanes and tornadoes would be a thing of the past, and we can save the planet!

I think everyone on here believes they can control the weather, apart from the ones tarred with the”denier” brush.

Frightening how determined Musk is to usher in a fascist government where he wields huge power.

He's not alone, just the most prominent of the Silicon Valley tech bros who like the idea of a regulation-free Trumpist world, allowing them free rein to do as they please unchecked.

peterwards claim that Elon Musk wants to usher in a fascist government (via The Daily Beast, lol), is patently absurd.

And please remember that the BBC’s US news partner is CBS, enough said.

The fact that you're denying what's right in front of your eyes, is patently absurd.

what Trump is doing is fascist, not just a slur, it is by definition fascism.

You're in denial Las Vegan, you're dislike of liberals/Democrats blinds you to the reality that you support a fascist.

Pennsyvania - the swing state with the largest Jewish population — about 300,000 voting-age Jews in a state President Joe Biden won by roughly 80,000 votes in 2020.

Injecting a little bit of balance into this thread despite thoroughly agreeing with our stance on Trump (@Crawley Dingo and @lasvegan company excepted) and in no way letting this be a reason for supporting Trump:

I think Biden’s stance on Israel has been weak and ineffectual and Netanyahu has taken advantage of the current election to drag his feet to the negotiating table.

It’s a known fact Netanyahu favours a Trump win (Remember Trump’s ‘Peace Plan? - moving US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem/‘awarding’ Israel 2/3 of the West Bank/tearing up the Nuclear Deal with Iran to justify the current causus belli for Israel to ‘take out‘ Iran’s nuclear enrichment facilities)

Some political commentators now directly attributing the current escalation in the ME to Netanyahu taking advantage of Biden’s lame duck presidency.

Myself, I am appalled that while on the one hand Biden has repeatedly talked about red lines in the sand yet continued to arm Israel to the hilt for fear of alienating his Democratic supporters in the US.

“Netanyahu couldn’t have hoped for a more compliant accomplice than Biden himself, who has showered Israel with a record $17.9 billion in military aid as well as protecting Israel from facing any diplomatic or legal consequences from international organizations and allowing Israel to cross every red line Biden claimed was inviolable.”

This election is sending ripple effects around the world in a way that could have a profound effect on geo-politics not just based on outcome of who wins but by virtue that the election is even taking place at all.

Care to be slightly more substantive in your criticism?
From a Trump supporter, that's probably going to be as substantive and articulate as you are going to get!

If you want to eliminate the use of fossil fuels Trump is exactly the wrong person to vote for.

Musk’s attempts to influence support for Trump, after January 6 (and months of rhetoric from Trump indicating there will be a violent outcome if he loses the election); his apparent alignment with the Republican‘s Project 2025 (a deeply autocratic, centralising agenda) - a second Presidency under Trump could certainly create the conditions for fascist ideology to become a real threat to American democracy - I don’t know Musk falls into that definition but he certainly represents an unelected influence in American politics that has not bulked at using the threat of violence to overcome one’s political opponents (one of the key defining criteria of ‘fascism’). Trump isn’t an ideologue, he’s a narcissist and opportunist individual who’s style of chaotic and flaky approach to policy creates the fertile breeding ground for unelected shadow powers like Musk and Bannon (currently serving prison time for his part in Jan 6) to thrive - even if Musk is not himself a fascist, the amount of influence he has, should be a warning to us all that a Trump presidency could invite the wolves of fascism in through the back door.

All that fascism needs to assert itself is ‘bad government’ and Trump, while he might not be a ‘fascist‘ himself represents everything that is bad about governance.

This is typical of a tribal supporter with inbedded hatred of other side who is wholly incapable of objective thinking.

There are a minority here who think every Labour leader is great, every Conservative and policy is terrible, who will always jump to defence of one and attack the other, and nothing can pierce that pre decided closed position.

It's called "confirmation bias"

You dismiss the fact that Trump by the definition of what fascism is, is clearly a fascist because it comes from the mouth of his military chief of staff or any number of ex cabinet members or his actions and words that conform to very definitions of fascism.

"Fascism is might over right, conspiracy over reality, fiction over fact, pain over law, blood over love, doom over hope"

Robert Paxton the pre eminent scholar of fascism and fascist regimes described it as this in his book "anatomy of fascism" which you should read rather than simply say - Robert Paxton LOL to justify it to yourself.

".....Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues often with violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing....."

Lol or fascist apologist?
