As usual he has very little tact in his opinion, some of which is probably valid insomuch many fans of the clubs with women's teams pay little or no attention to them and don't consider them as part of their overall support of their club.

Many though, like me, want to see anyone associated with the club, do well. The profile of women's football is artificially enhanced but was necessary to grow their game. We all benefit imo from being associated with any team from our club, that is in the top leagues.

I do struggle when the women's teams/game is portrayed as equal with the men's, it is not and will never be. This is likely to be his main point, badly made.

I try to watch most of the Brighton Women's game on line (normally in my shop Sundays) and as I post often on the women's thread , I find some of the basic awareness (often referred to as a footballing brain) very lacking. This surprises me as they are full time professionals irrelevant of their earnings.

To me it's like having two gardens (not a lady garden!) one is a flower garden the other a vegetable. Both require a person doing basically the same thing. Most will want to go and see the flower garden in full bloom while appreciating what the other garden is, some will want to see both.

Is this another example of those that preach tolerance are the least tolerant of all? Mr Brazil has an opinion, widely supported, but because it's not fashionable then all the name calling and labels begin.
No.
He was f***ing vile to her. Drunk & bullying. That clip is only part of the 'discussion' this morning

Last time he had a similar argument with her he bet that a Champions League tie on BT Sport would get more viewers than the Lionesses at the same time on ITV…. He was wrong then too

Purely for the purposes of comparison (comedy)

I love the great save where the ball actually crosses the line.

A lot of hypocrisy in this thread.

He said: “'With the greatest respect, when you talk about Manchester United. Women’s football is getting more important now but when you talk about Manchester United, this is the men’s we’re talking about, the Premier League when we’re talking about mission impossible, not the women’s.'”

 seems right to me.

He’s saying there’s a place for women’s football and followers of that sport. He’s also saying Manchester United men’s first team are the draw (or loss in this case  ) which is simply the truth.

So he might be a dinosaur, a bore, and frankly while I value his opinions on football generally as much as the average pub bore or NSC’er, what he’s said is correct.

As for the hypocrisy; imagine we were relegated or in Manchester United’s position based on their expectations and massive debt, crumbling ground, no signs of hope. And then we were told to be grateful that our women’s team were doing well.

A women’s team that a very small percentage of Albion men’s fans follow at all, let alone attend games.

I think a lot of the people here being dismissive and obnoxious would be singing a very different tune.
The bit in bold is strange. That isn't what was said to him. His colleague was simply reading out the aims of the board under their new "Project 150". On the list of the aims, alongside all the things about the mens team was also to improve the women's team.

That then sent Alan off on his weird rant.

So no, there's no hypocrisy in the slightest as that's not what happened. A female colleague dared mention Man Utd looking to improve both the men's and the women's teams as their ambition and he couldn't help but speak.

I'd recommend listening to her part of the conversation.

No one is arguing that what he said was incorrect. It's the fact that nobody asked. Quite often nobody asks.....but will still received a helpful dismantling of the women's game.

Is that really true?
It really was. I listened to the whole clip. They were talking about the United strategy and then she went to the plan for the women's game and he shut it down by saying nobody cared. There was no need to belittle it that way. None whatsoever. What kind of message does that sound out to those who want to start taking up the game ? It says that it's a pointless exercise and a waste of time an money. They don't matter.

As I said, I have no interest in the women's game, but hearing that really pissed me off. Watching it again, I'm wondering if he's under the influence.

I'm not arguing against this, but what I'm saying is that women should not be denied the same opportunities to play where there is interest as well as proper opportunities to develop their game. The conversation they were having had moved to talk about this stage of the project and Alan Brazil, who sounded drunk, started to belittle it. That was wrong. Whether there is more interest in the men's game or not, it was a worthy discussion that he derailed with his bile. Sometimes it's not what is said, but the heart it comes from. A five minute section talking about Manchester United's ambitions for their female team should only be taxing to minds with poor attitudes towards women generally. And all this women's football is rubbish talk is something I would only hope is consigned to alpha male constructs. Folk don't have to watch it, but in a society that as enlightened as we are supposed to be they should show more respect.

Women's football isn't as good as the men's game. Yes we know. It's the most laboured mantra I hear. But I still don't see what the point is here. Women want to play, lots of them these days, so it's newsworthy.

I’m with Allan.

When are all these WOKIES going to stop pretending they’re interested in women’s football?
Women's football is all fun and games until dinners not on the table.

It’s not just what he said, it’s how he said it too - his body language, tone, attitude…everything about it
