I heard the whole thing live & it was horrible. He's blatantly pissed (UK version) & was quite aggressive. I thought she coped well but AB needs a slap. He's an embarrassment.
Unfortunately he also seems to have represent a sizeable portion of talkshite listeners

I think he's right. The harsh reality is despite women's football clearly making some progress it is still a very small fraction of the interest that the mens game generates and therefore in the context of what they were discussing, i.e. Man Utd, all any (or 99.99%) Utd fans across the world care about is what they're going to do with the mens team. They couldn't care less about the women's team by comparison. Stating a reality does not make him a dinosaur and it's pretty disrespectful and ageist to say that to him.
They don't have to care less about women's team if they don't want to. They should just shut up and let the game develop whilst being pleased that all these opportunities are being opened up.

I haven't a clue what's going on in women's football. But I don't feel the need to go mouthing off when I hear my club are investing in it as part of the future strategy because I know that's a good thing. Why would I feel the need to mouth off about my club doing a good thing for folk that doesn't affect me ?

I am all for womens sport but Man Utd is perhaps the biggest club in the world because of its world wide support. I would think none of this is for the womens team

Yes, I've just listened to it is as well. Doubling down on it now. He's out of order. They were talking about the United strategy and spoke about the men's game. She then mentioned about the next part was the development of the women's game and he went off about how no-one cared. Utter dinosaur who needs to take his views to a Jim Davison show and not a radio station.

He's so bad he's unlistenable. Add to that, the glorification of alcohol that surrounds him, often completely shoehorned in without relevance, is as toxic as the relentless gambling adverts that run through everything in sport.

I don't listen to him but, I'd bet the money savers at OT have had a look at how much the Ladies team is costing and glanced at each other with a knowing grin.

But that's not the point here. They were addressing two completely different components of the club's strategy. Manchester United are trying to develop as a club and women's football is a part of it, albeit not with same investment as men's football. Can't see the problem.

He blatantly says on air TS sack him and then grovel him back after numbers drop, he feels untouchable and says what he wants.
I don’t know what types are impressed with him drinking himself to death himself although there must be a fair few.
Which is odd. As he's awful

That's irrelevant in this context though. Manchester United have a blueprint, whether laughable or not, that incorporates all sorts of development with a view to success. This includes the men and women's team. The whole club.

I don't follow women's football, but it is very important as it gives girls and women the opportunities to develop. So to say it doesn't matter is indeed the words of a dinosaur, a very discriminatory one too. Clubs are embracing it, like Albion. No-one here seems to be complaining that money is being invested in this and they shouldn't- because to say that money shouldn't be invested is to say women don't matter.

I'm sick and tired of blokes making comments about women's football thinking they are either funny or, even worse, have a point. If it's not for them then they should just shut up or share the joy that girls and women have had in recent times getting access to a sport that was closed off to them for many years.
I know a couple who go to every Brighton women’s games and yet never been once to see the men play.
If that’s their thing then let people enjoy it the results matter to the fans of the women’s game.

I think he's right.
He might be

But no one asked him the question.

The issue is that he heard "man Utd" and "Womens team" and was triggered into this weird rant when all that was being said was that the owners would like that team to do well as well. That's what literally any good owner would say. Can you imagine if they said "we are fully focused on the mens team and won't worry about the women's team"

People think they are really edgey to point out the women's game isn't as good as the mens in terms of quality. Well, no S Sherlock. They were literally banned from playing at one point.

Wanting the game to develop is not the same as saying it's as good a quality or claiming it matters as much to a wider fanbase based on percentages. And no, Big Dave sitting at the bar in Spoons, I'm not saying the women's team of Man Utd should be paid the same as the men. They are literally in a sector with a lower turnover, so you can hold that next rant you had planned.(Big Dave or Big Al, not you)

Brazil just represents the type of person who is ready to fire off when they hear the trigger words.

There are some decent shows and presenters on TS, but I really can’t stand Brazil (or ‘what about the Villa though’ Agbonlahor, so when the two are on together it’s an easy leave). He’s as thick as a whale omelette, always poorly-researched, only interested in the big 4 and where his next pissup is happening and a crap presenter (constantly answers his own questions before the subject has had a chance to speak). He runs his show like a lad’s drinking club. He’s not a dinosaur, that would be a waste of a good meteorite.

What was he right about ? That folk don't follow the women's game as much (he actually said 'don't care).

That may be right, but whether he is right is not a subject for debate here. What he said was irrelevant to the discussion and totally derailed it.

And the problem for the women's game is that too many blokes are making that 'right' statement and putting it down. What message does that send to those who are wanting to enter/improve within the game ?

I listen to Rushden and Glendenning (or Baker) and can't fathom how they are on the same station as Brazil and co.

There aren’t many physical sports where men and women can compete equally, so really don’t understand why so many people feel the need to keep comparing the men’s and women’s game. Almost like they feel a bit threatened by it:shrug:
