That's why I'm bored of the comparison of the two,

Funnily enough I tend to find the people (not aimed at you) who are often bored of the comparison are the ones making the comparison initially. Like Mr Brazil. No one compared the two. It was just mentioned in the same 1 hour time slot as the mens game and he couldn't handle it.

Which is what I said originally to combat your 'complete bollocks'. Also, the fact that your are with them, helps to prevent trouble.

Now, think about a woman with a couple of kids, to look after.
Yeah and I retracted that? Not sure what the end goal is here, I said something previously I don't fully agree with, and then said that I agree there are issues with women attending football. I'm not blind to that, I'm just talking about my personal experience, I've been to the football home and away with just my mum since I was 7 years old, I haven't come across some of the issues described, not in denial that they don't happen.

This is why I find his whole outburst a bit strange, INEOS have those goals, it doesn't matter whether he thinks they are important or not, they'll be to further the aims of the club, regardless of what the men's team do.

New fans, we haven't seen it here at Brighton YET. Arsenal are the ones to look at here, the attendances are only going up, across the league, the future is women's football. Like I said it's attracting new young fans who will never be interested in men's football, huge demographics that are untapped. People who I know who never had any interest in football, are getting more and more interested in the Women's game, it needs years to develop, but its coming whether people like it or not. That's why I'm bored of the comparison of the two, the audience they are building is not from the men's game, albeit there is a large crossover. If you are a fan of the men's game, then the quality is not going to be the same, and the atmosphere very different, but like any sport, it has its audience. The more popular it gets the more people will invest, I can guarantee in 20, 30 years if you haven't got a functional women's setup you are going to be left behind. Its not a flash in the pan it will get more popular.

There shouldn't be a comparison between the two, I concur.

I also agree it has a place in a football club, I'm glad the PL sides are mainly taken it seriously, for myself the major thing it does offer is safer space for people to enjoy the game who don't enjoy the mens game atmosphere.

I just have my doubts over it having much impact on a football club overall, it will have a ceiling, which I think will be a lot lower than you are suggesting.

Arsenal Women have almost a 20,000 average attendance this season. I have no doubt if we build a 10k stadium at Falmer, within a 5 years we will be looking at expansion as a necessity.

Arsenal use the Emirates a lot, Brighton could trial that theory using the Amex, how much does the Broadfield hold? 6k? Not even half filling that

Arsenal also have a massive catchment area

I think it's a harsh fact that currently Bloom/Enic/Ineos/Boehly etc dont overly care about the female team till PR tells them to.

They aims of the club wouldn't include improving the female side.

I really think that is not the case, the aims of all those clubs will be improving the women's side. I think that's ignorant to how quickly the game is growing. Chelsea have purchased prime real estate for a facility to cater massively to the women's game. They aren't idiots they wouldn't be building stadiums solely for PR reasons. Bloom wouldn't be purchasing land worth millions solely for PR, if it didn't make business sense why would they do it?

Brazil is a relic and I’m amazed he’s still breathing as his lifestyle looks like a walking heart attack. I don’t listen to him because I find him boring. However, on this subject I think he is correct - I can believe that 99% of football fans are not bothered about the women’s game, me included, but I’m glad it’s there for those that do.

As for what it costs, I’m pretty sure these clubs wouldn’t be doing it if it affected the mens teams. It doesn’t help the women’s game IMO when you get certain ‘top’ players calling for wage parity with the men, err why? My understanding is that their revenue doesn’t cover their costs as it is. The poster rightly pointing out that Arsenal get ~20k but at what ticket price? No chance it’s at men team prices, not even close.

"Charman Bloom said: “Our vision remains to become a top-four WSL club and we know how tough a target that is.

“We are working really hard over the summer to significantly close the gap on the current top four.”

Barber believes a purpose-built stadium is "important" to give "respect and focus" on the women's team.

He hopes it will help the club build a fanbase and capitalise on the growth of women's football in England.

"Every club in the country, I think, is looking at how it can integrate women's and girls' football more into its mainstream operations," added Barber.

"Some clubs have got different strategies to us but we feel that a women's stadium would be a wonderful thing to have back in the city.

"We think it would help us build an audience for the women's team that we don't currently have and we see this as a long-term project.

"The women's game is growing rapidly and we see it as a very viable proposition for the future."

Or he could have given the following jovial response in his Scottish accent, "Aye, it would be fantastic if the women's team won the league, just to show the men how it's done".

Everyone in the studio would have laughed, and then they could just move on. No fuss, and not coming across as a complete bell-end, regardless of whether he was right or not.
The entire conceit of TalkSport is to 'start debates' to try to attract and retain listeners. If the first bloke said they dislike women’s football, I presume Brazil would have opined on his love of women’s football. It’s madness that people here are thinking that the public utterances of TS presenters necessarily reflect privately held opinions.
