Sounds more like capitulation, must be music to Putin's ear. His speech also seems they are turning their back on Europe but still wants to be part of NATO! Western governments really do need to get their heads round the fact that we are already at war with Russia & Ukraine is currently our shield. We must do much, much more. Reeves's budget it out the window, like it or not defense spending must take priority, especially as Trump seems to be turning into an imperialist fascist maniac with his fascist sidekick Musk.
Reeves could spend a gazillion on defence but unlike the Ukrainians who are still blood and soil patriots, the same cannot be said about this country.

I have no doubt these findings echo the state of the U.K. youth and even wider views pre Gen Z generations. We’d be better off stepping back from interfering in international affairs and de arming. Let those who want to fight for Ukraine or Palestine do so.

You're aiming high.

We met this couple from Michigan on a cruise around the Med. The husband thought my wife (who comes from Lancashire) came from Pennsylvania. True story.
Even more scary is the Yanks that actually leave their home shores are supposed to be the more enlightened ones!

Sadly it seems the findings may well be right. Couple of years ago a young chap who lives opposite had ambitions to join the military. We recently asked him how that was going, told us he didn't think this country is worth fighting for

I don't think you're going to get many on here agreeing to that.

But the best of luck in your future trolling career on this thread (y)

No, but he's looked at the size of Greenland, and has noticed that on the Youtube Short video, it gets smaller as you move it nearer the equator.

So, it is either smaller, or nearer than he thought. Either way, it's easier to conquer.
He'll ask Musk to move it nearer the equator to conquer it, then move it back to the Arctic to make it a bigger prize.

Putin will continue to have Trump tied up in knots and wrapped around his little pinky.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Putin and Trump in equal measure but Putin is a smart, savvy psychopath whilst Trump has to be the thickest, dumbest leader on the planet.

This does not bode well.

Although if the balloon does go up. Trump now has a vast army of exploding paper straws he can immediately deploy. Did I mention Trump was thick and dumb?

It's fast moving, at least US said no to that.
Watch out Trump...if you're in Putin's pocket, then you're really in Xi's pocket
Sorry, that may have been a bit misleading. The post from Nexta says 'in recent weeks', so the offer may have come several weeks ago.

It could even have been made in good faith, with the Chinese having the best of intentions and just wanting peace. Well, either that, or they're eyeing up those rare earths...

Polls are Polls so are purely indicative. However we’re probably approaching 20% of the population being foreign born, and if you chuck in another 20% 1st or 2nd generation of foreign born parents who are historically unattached to the U.K. in a positive way there’s 40% are not proud to be British.

For the “native” population the question is what and who are you fighting (and dying for). It’s understandable in such a fractured country with different identities that there isn’t much to coalesce that sense of sacrifice around. I’m surprised the % willing to fight is as high as 11%.

If the poll is even half right the writing is on the wall. Better to step back from security council and interfering in top table politics than keep bluffing.
