I agree it does stretch the boundries of banter where by "bomber" chants definately cross the line and our out of order. Also I would class "gay" songs as f***ing rubbish and moronic but they appear to have been accepted.

Not by me they're not. Hilarious gay "banter" is pure muppetry, bawled out by pissed up chavs. The fact that most of us have found a way to laugh it off says good things about our support. i.e. we're tolerant. Nonetheless, it's not the sort of thing that is ever going to make a significant part of the community feel welcome at a football match.

Yes, but do I sing these chants at your gay friend? No, and its upsetting that it makes him feel unconfortable.

In the same way as I would feel uncomfortable taking an Asian friend to a football match at the likes of Luton because of this kind of racist nonsense.

So what, precisely, is your point mate?

I'm not your mate.

The point is that homophobic chanting has become acceptable whereas anything that might be deemed to be offensive to any other group and people like you crawl out of the woodwork branding people you don't know as racists. Which incidentally is bollocks rather like a lot of what you say.

I don't care Dougal.

Cardiff fans embrace beign called Sheepshaggers, Spurs fans embraced being called Yiddos, the Albion have largely disempowered the gay taunts by witty responses.

How about Luton fans getting their heads out of their arses and thinking of a witty response to the Taliban chants?

5 pages into the thread and you are still missing the point spectacularly aren't you? Congratulations.

I've noticed that more and more idoits have been going to games recently. I allways expect the gay chants every game, and our funny responses of "you're to ugly to be gay" are great, but do we really need to resort in to rasist chanting? two wrongs don't make a right! Just because they start signing homophobic chants doesn't mean we should start singing about a small town in delhi or town full of bombers, come on we are better than that, we have kinda embraced the gay chats like the spurs fans have with there jewish conncetions and should just laugh it off. We shouldn't have to but unfortunatley thats they way it is, i'm all up for abit of banter but just though that some of the responses last night were a little far over the line.

You've asked them all have you?

Thats funny, because I went to Uni with a lot of Asians who were really into football but rarely attended games. Strange coincidence.

Good point. Same with black people, they love football and yet you dont see that many black people at games.

Why do you feel the need to jump to the defence of the Luton fans last night I'm sure they can defend themselves.
Where has he said that homophobic chanting is acceptable? It's equally retarded. It's just that our fans have learned to deal with it.

He hasn't but it seems to be.

Or have I missed all the threads on a saturday night moaning about the homophobic abuse we've been subjected to.

How many professional footballers from the sub-continent and Middle East can you name who've played in England?

There's more playing for Worcestershire at cricket than have played in the English Leagues ever.

I don't buy the anti-racist chanting thing as a widespread problem. Yes, you'll get the odd bit at Luton, Bradford, Leicester and Burnley but then you'll get Jewish stuff at Spurs and there's still plenty of Jews who attend Spurs matches.

Anyway, I am gay and asian.

I just don't take it up the arse after a curry.

What a pointless thread, divebombing into the "have you asked them" and "I've known more asians than you" territory. If you don't like the chants, then tell a steward - it really is that simple. Point out the people who are doing it, explain to the steward why it is wrong, and back it up with a letter to the club.

You're a bit of a sarcastic twat, aren't you? We disagree, can't you just accept that?

Let me get this right? Homophobic chanting is wrong, but racist chanting is okay because its merely banter. Is that the point you are making then?

This is a Brighton board. Consequently, the behaviour of Brighton fans is more a subject of interest on this board than the equally piss poor behavour of some Lootown fans. Similarly, if the Stains go overboard with homophobic abuse on Tuesday, I think you can expect a 5 page thread on it on Saintschat.

o/t on the flip side , there are a section in H block who without being prompted sing about taking it up the arse and pro gay stuff.....i find this more offensive and as suggested above , the stewards are aware. . . .theres just no need , it doesn't encourage the team and it doesn't wind up the away fans either . Its just pathetic mindless bollox + makes the said few look c* nts , you know who you are

Precisely. Both are stupid and moronic but gerbil appears to be defending racist chanting whilst condemning homophobic chanting.
He's not doing that. He's saying YOU are condemning racist chanting but not homophobic chanting. And you're not doing that either.

For the record, a lot of people around me who weren't singing 1-0 to the Taliban were still having a good laugh at those who were.

Don't be a cock all your life.

If you get someone to read it to you you might understand.

What I was saying was that we have to accept homophobic taunts but if anything is directed at a town with a larger than normal ethnic population people like you start screaming about it branding others as racists.

Do you understand now?
