Simster said:Not by me they're not. Hilarious gay "banter" is pure muppetry, bawled out by pissed up chavs. The fact that most of us have found a way to laugh it off says good things about our support. i.e. we're tolerant. Nonetheless, it's not the sort of thing that is ever going to make a significant part of the community feel welcome at a football match.
I agree that we have learned to deal with the "gay" chants brilliantly. I stand at away games with the people who dreamed up the "He's over there" song in response to "Does your're boyfriend know you're here". It took quite a while but eventually we got it to take off.
But then where do we draw the line?...I heard the excellent "feed the pikey's, let them know it's Christmas time" chant, but then by any other token is this also taking it too far? What about calling Scousers thieves? This could go on forever with debates about what is and what is not acceptable, especially when players are concerned. Leicester players got rapist taunts, Watford's Clark Carlisle has alcoholic abuse aimed at him and even Glen Little of Reading get's grief about his abnormally large nose.
This is insane...
Albion & England forever.
