Very interesting.
He is a good man, I think. Invests a lot in employee welfare.
It may well be an inspired appointment.

It's also a way of packing the House of Lords with Labour appointees so serves two purposes.

Perhaps you should vent your frustration at the Tories who‘ve had at least 6 years to fix, rather than new PM who is mostly still trying to work out how the oven works in number 10!
in all honesty anything written on a fag packet would be better than the Tories.

I thought we voted that we’d had enough of experts in 2016? Then Boris proved all the scientists wrong during Covid (he almost died but those who seen him play tennis knew he’d pull through).
Why on earth are these people being put into the Lords?
Should be people like Charlotte Owen who have actually helped in government by making Boris tea and doing his photocopying.

These look like two quite niche roles, so probably a bit of both, which doesn't seem unreasonable.

These Lords appointments, this means they can obviously sit in House of Lords and as above attend cabinet but they won't have any access to HoC ? and won't be eligible to vote at all ?. Has this happened much in previous regimes, not saying it's a bad thing at all, especially the likes of Vallance but neutrality questions I guess can/will be raised.

I don't like this whole "lets appoint people with experience in the specific field to the head of govt".

100% this. If you’ve been to a good English school such as Eton then you should have the confidence to slot into any ministerial position.
Remember, the country voted against experts in 2016 and whilst all their predictions about Brexit have come to fruition, this country clearly affirmed and opinion was more important than a fact. Having a scientist as a minister splurging unwanted facts about in cabinet meetings when the public are hungry for unqualified opinions can only lead to one thing. More lockdowns.
It's great if it gets resolved, but if they agree on the same sort of deal that was offered before, it's pretty scummy behaviour by the BMA

Streeting comes across well, he seems to get the NHS can't be fixed by throwing more money at it alone
