There's an awful lot of ifs, buts and maybes in your post. Consistency and spending power dictate the league position in the Championship.

Yes but to answer those if's & buts you would have to know if there was a plan by either manager or Chairman to get promotion THIS season. If the plan was to just stay in this division and consolidate then its worked and why is Gus unhappy with the team in relation to Dicker. If the plan changed or we intended to get promotion THIS season (like Soton) then Gus better sort things out pronto and decide how he wants to play because sure as hell the current team are not good enough playing the way we are. Next season may answer a few questions.

See how hard the championship will be - I thought this season had a lot of clubs that would challenge for the prem but it looks even harder next.

Swansea - Second season syndrome or will playing the passing game work again? It didn't / hasn't for West Brom & Wigan

The Amex effect reality or myth

Squad - Who will be in / out whatever division we are in?

Vicente - Plan for the future or just his playing style?

Tony Bloom - Just how much is prepared to gamble on the Prem?

My personal view is that we aimed to get as high as we can not to consolidate or get promotion. I don't get this prophecy that the Championship is going to be so much tougher next season. It's hard every season and something like a suspension or injury can knock teams off track at any time. We had a tough time in Oct to Dec this season through so many injuries. If we are injury free next season we could give it a real go. There you are, you've got me doing 'if, buts and maybes' now.

Can someone remind me just how far off the play-offs we are with five games remaining? Reading this thread one can only conclude it must be a good dozen.

Win four out of five and we will do it.

Win three out of five and it is 50:50

Brighton - In your face
Some people just like to moan. Theyll moan at the football, they'll moan after the football. They'll moan after a Kelly Brook titwank. It's not pefection, he's not a genius, he's a championship manager managing (should be) mid-table Brighton, not Manchester United. He'll make mistakes.

As I said previously some fans love to focus on the negatives and post about nothing else. I'm sure other forums must have them too.

We've won 3 out if 11 so difficult to see how we win 3 out of 5. Realistically we are out of it but stranger things have happened.

Hopefully we'll come back next season stronger, better equipped and with all the learnings of this campaign built in to the way we approach and handle each game. That's got to be the objective imo

Boro have not won in seven. It's whoever turns up between now and the end of the season who will make it.

We have a full squad from tomorrow onwards, let's get behind them.

I reckon we have to get more points than Cardiff and we're in.

I think (well hope) everyone is 100% behind us getting there and I won't give up until it's mathematically impossible such has been the recent inconsistency of others ... in saying that I am looking forward to next season .. reckon I can't be disappointed then!!

Gus had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he made the Dicker comment though..
Did he. Every time he said it?

Even after the Burnley game he we didnt fully understand what we was trying to do.

He is asking players to play a way they do not fully understand.

He can come up with all the genius formations he like, but these are footballers not Stpehen Bloody Hawking, and its clear they do not understand what they are meant to be doing. The manager says it himself!!

All I'm saying, is I'd love to see Gus pick and play a side to their strengths, not so over complicated genuis system, that they are unable to do. If it works, great, when it doesn't have a Plan B. But they closest he can come to a plan B, is Plan A 1.1 or 1.2

His Plan A took us from 21st in League 1 to 7th in the CCC.

I have to be honest and say I don't recall Gus saying the players don't understand on a regular basis, but may be wrong.

Me too.

When it comes to Gus he gets some things right and some wrong. What I don't get is the benefit of just focussing on negatives. It doesn't work in any other line of business.

As you have just proved, but the only one who is moaning is you mate. The rest of us are on a disscussion board, discussing football, so if you have nothing to add to it other than to moan, then moan off! :thumbups:

Seriously though, not a moan or being negative, but the way we have been lately, do you honestly think we can win 3 out of 5, or even one for that matter.

He is a central midfield player, the creative one you were talking about a few posts ago.
He's an attacking midfielder not a central midfielder, also his favourite position is the left wing,as he's a very attacking player he's not goner dominate the middle of the park.Thats not what I mean't by dominant central midfielder's.

He looked very dominant in central midfield against Ipswich and Derby.
