And to Ninja, no you don't always have to state it's your opinion, I just thought you knew more about the subject than you do by your statement.

I know as much about the subject as anyone else. I may have more history with Brezovan than most, which gives me a different perspective than most, but my opinions are still my own.

This is a forum for Brighton fans to discuss matters relating to the team, and share their opinions. Which is why I have contributed to this thread.

It isn't fair to compare the stats of Kuipers from 5 years ago, or even last year. I compare Brezovan of this season, with Kuipers of this season.

Kuipers has faced 78 shots on target in 15 matches = 5.2 shots per match.
Brezovan has faced 25 shots on target in 4 matchs = 6.25 shots per match.

I'd say those stats are a fair comparison.

Clean sheet % and win rate are probably less comparable because of Brezovan's comparative few games this year.

I'd agree, that's a fairer comparison than the previous one. But when one goalkeeper has played almost 4 games more than another, it's hardly fair to compare the two and think it tells you anything deffinitive. If Brezovan plays the next 11 games and akes it 15-15, then that's fairer. Even 15-10 if fairer, but 15-4? That's not fair in my opinion.

Possibly. But that surely undermines your own argument, as it makes Brezovan incomparable to Kuipers?

keeps a clean sheet and still gets a thread for people to lay into him

He could have scored from his own penalty box, and I would still be saying I don't have any faith in the chap and I would rather Kuipers between the sticks. Doesn't mean I'm "laying" into him, if you were indeed referring to me.

Showed two major flaws today, routed to his line and flapping punches from crosses - typical foreign keeper.

brezovan was fine today until he had that collision with mcgleish, after which he seemed to be affected by the knock as he went off the boil a bit

fact is is that we needed a keeper, and he was available to us when we couldnt loan or buy another. he has filled a gap usefully and we have got four points with him inbetween the sticks, but i agree that if we want to get out of this league we will need a new keeper. and not just a number two, but a replacement for kuipers. he hasnt convinced me in league one this season, so if we want to be in the championship he will quite clearly not be up to scratch

Brezovan was fine for us today and kept a clean sheet. OK, he seems rusty in some areas of his game, but I'm not prepared to dismiss him just like that. Like many of us when we start a new job at a new workplace, he needs a bit of nurturing, that's all!

Did anybody hear the interview with James Tunnicliffe about 2.15 today on Radio Sussex? The interviewer asked him about Brezovan and his reply was " it is nice to have a big man who commands his box behind you it makes it a lot easier for the back four, he then quickly added Michele and Graeme are good to have behind you as well. That was like an after thought that he thought he should add.

Shhhhh! Don't hint that he might not be bad! You will be gunned down by the FDM brigade!

good luck fellas, nearly cost us relegation last season. Nice bloke but a total liability.

I think I'll go with that - he's here because Smith is a total liability - and fair play to Poyet for bringing him in pronto. He kept his place yesterday because he did pretty OK at Swindon (two or three excellent saves), but Kuipers surely must return tomorrow. And then we need to find a PROPER keeper sometime before the start of next season. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brezovan staying as back up for Kuipers for the time being, but I think on the evidence of the three games I've seen him play, he is definitely NOT a long-term solution.

I think that he will get an extention to his contract and be the first choice until the end of the season. Perhaps not the long term answer but certainly for the rest of this season with FDM as back up.

BG, there will come a game where even you will see what anyone who has seen more than 4 games of Brezovan knows, that he's not a long term #1. Why do you think he kept being dropped for Swindon last season, and the season before, and the season before that? He was in and out of their side for a very good reason, and he was released in the summer for a similarly good reason. At some point you, and everyone else, will see for yourselves that he's not very good and that Michel is a much better goalkeeper than he is, and Michel WILL be back at #1 by the end of january (at the latest).
