And that is why the English will win nothing

The shouting, fist pumping and muscle showing what was we have been missing for years. English people and England like LOSERS, they celebrate LOSING and under achieving whether it be in sport or business. ANYONE who is a winner or achiever is hated in England.

But that's the thing though isn't it. Murray considers himself Scottish not British! He was quoted openly wanting to support anyone else other than England. He's a sour faced, miserable bad loser, who doesn't really want any ties with England unless it can help him in some way, and that's why people here don't like him.

Just being Scottish is enough reason not to like the scrawny little weasel.

Why is it acceptable to say that but not if you replace the word Scottish with Black or Muslim

It is entirely unnacceptable I'm sure. Very un-pc of me. But I am railing against the mediocre for you US. Also I am a massive hypocrite and am therefore allowed to be hypocritical.

Why play that card?

Scottish people want nothing to do with England whatsoever.
When we were in the World Cup, they had a piece on the news and everyone said they were supporting anyone but England, yet when they are playing we (probably speaking for myself when I say) want them to do well.

Murray happens to be one of those petty Scots, so why should we show our support?

I very much doubt he wants any ties with England at all. I guess it boils down to whether you are proud to be British or wish to disown Great Britain

Personally I think he adds something to the game and he is not a dull player to watch. No-one is forcing anyone to support him, but I find this loathing of him to be rather amusing. It does seem to border on jealousy at times.

As for him wanting England to lose, that came across as a bit of competitive banter. I wouldn't expect anything less from a Scotsman and vice versa if there was a role reversal.

Anyway, who cares? He is 21 years old, a very promising talent and is in the quarter final stage of a grand slam. I think that says alot about the views of his detractors. Long may he continue to rub the very precious up the wrong way.

That is the biggest load of f***ing crap i have ever heard in my entire life. You are generalising a whole nation.

My best mate lives in Scotland and until you have stayed there for a while you have NO idea how few of the Scots are actually of that view.

The Scots in general are one of the most welcoming friendly nations around

Indeed. But it's a LAW of piss-poor journalism that only the hack is allowed to indulge in any jokes, gags, irony, or sarcasm. Should the sportsman indulge, the journalist reserves the right to take him totally literally and carve him up a treat.

And we are total hypocrites on a lot of nationality issues. If it was an Englishman not continually saying they were English and proud of it, the press would go mad. Yet if a Scotsman quite reasonably does it, it's somehow perceived as a sleight. Even if, as Harveys says, it was an imaginary sleight in the first place. Mad.

My little lad, who is 6, had his sports day at school last week. He won five races. His prize for this? Absolutely sod all. The same as the pasty, lardy kid with specs who came last by a country mile in everything except the being a whining spoilt little fucker race. In fact he looked bemused to have been asked by me how the school had rewarded his achievements. And this is why so many people coming through now into the world of work etc have limited ideas of how to push themselves to achieve anything, despite having degrees in media studies and the like. ****s, the lot of them.

Look at our record at the Albion for celebrating Success. I would say the top 5 things celebrated are

Finishing Runners Up in a Cup Final in 1983
Coming 91st out of 92 in 1997
Virgo scoring in the last second of extra time to make us lose 2-1 in a play off semi final
Winning Promotion to the top flight in 1980s
Winning Division 4 in 1999

not much in terms of ACTUAL winning success, but still seen as a great acheivement, which happens alot in the minds of us as a nation

We under achieve in virtually every sport invented by Man. Mcuh smaller nations with far less money available achieve far far more, there must be a reason for that and the pc Labour world of everyone being equal , ie, average means we have a bleak future for the next generation in all sports.

Henman bottled it against Ivanisevic in the semi's when he was 2-1 up and rolled over. Murray would not have done that.

Bit of a generalisation there but then expect that from you. Previous post mentions the cycling. Think we did pretty well at the recent world championships in Manchester.

As regards to your political rantings, appreciate that you are presumably going through a hard time at the moment based on your occupation but it does get a bit boring.

You certainly do. Aw, sweet.

Don't try and tar me with the racist card as my post pointed out that IT WAS NOT acceptable to speak like that if the person was black or muslim. Just because I could not support the German football team do not try and accuse me of rasicm.

I hated Labour in 2006 and 2007 when business was good.
