Constantly promoted in many facets of society? Can you be more specific?

All I see is negative press and bullshit government policy that is not helping the portrayal of Aboriginal culture or helping Aboriginal live in a meaningful way that reflect their traditions. We still judge them by western standards and do not respect their traditional way of life.

It's 2012.

There's so many well educated, hard working Aboriginals in our communities who go about life living it as everyone else does around the nation.

We've reached a point now where those Aboriginals have grown tired of the negative press their own people create themselves through their own actions.

I've Aboriginal family, in fact quire a lot in the NT.

They are absolutely no different to any other family of any background out their in the community.

They are well educated, hard working and successful people.

They like you are aware of the negative press often put out there. The difference is though that they aren't pissed off or blaming governments and outside sectors of society for this bad press. They are of the view it's time for the indigenous communities to take responsibility for their own problems and to stop with the childish blame game.

Watching Living Black each week there are communities out there who are embracing this philosophy, until all follow suit there will always be issues.

Nope..my gf speaks Czech... and most official docs are handled by my firm anyway...

The only time ive encountered real horror was in Holland when KPN Qwest went into liquidation and we all went on the dole there...
A hideous amount of Dutch paperwork, but friends always help in these situations, and as most English speakers get badgered with English language questions daily, it all pans out in the end
Aside from that, dont you want to learn czech anyway ? , seriously why not ?

No religion or religious law should be more powerful than the law of that country.

We haven't had any race riots in the last year in the UK.We had some rioting and thieving last summer but it was nothing to do with race. It was triggered by the shooting of a known criminal by the police.

I am off to bed. I hope you catch a big one ;)

erm I am confused...why is it racist?

Surely Islam is not a race, it is a religion and its followers, Muslims are not a race of people, they are a collection of people who believe in a particular form of religion.

In my office we have Pakistani Muslims, Indian Muslims English white Muslims, French Muslims, Far eastern indo Chinese Muslims

Exactly how are they excluded?

Once again you know sod all about what is taught out here and how they are constantly promoted within many facets of society.

At least our education system promotes aboriginal culture and history.

How's yours going recognizing English attrocities around the world?

It may be the case that your educational system now promotes aboriginal culture and history please please don't ignore the fact that the white immigrant population spent 90 or more years attempting to eradicate aboriginal culture. Wasn' the most recent prime ministerial apology, for stealing aboriginal babies for 70 years or so, only made a couple of years ago?

Because really, most people here want to learn English, so as soon as I use the few czech words/phrases im comfortable with, people answer in English anyway...
I live in a wierd world where my working day is all in English, my evenings are generally among Russian speakers..

Want to enlarge on that? people might start to think you're struggling to argue with what i've said.

I think you are full of shit. You're arguments have been proven intolerant, ill informed and downright incorrect time and time again. This will just be more of the same and I cannot be cocked with it anymore. You give England, Football and a certain generation of men a terrible, terrible name. The country has outgrown you sunshine, get used to it or get out of it. This is England now, not some half imagined view of Harriers over Argentina and throwing bricks through cornershop windows. You've had your day mate, accept it.

Good on your family. However their are huge groups of people who are not finding it so easy......for many different reasons. It is my understanding from talking to people who work in this field that many aboriginals still don't measure their success by our standards, or want to live the kind of life offered to them by our way of life.

It's true that the Aborigines don't riot very often but there is nothing that has occurred in the U<K to compare with the attempted cultural and economoc destruction that was foisted on the aborogines. It wasn't until the 80's that the white Australian immigrants and their descendants stopped taking newborn babies from aboriginal mothers and giving them to white families to bring up, while telling the mothers that they had died. I think the white immigrants that did that would categorise themselves as Australians rather than English.

Hilarious.

The Lost Children - CBS News

The British government, in collaboration with churches and charities, developed a secret plan to clear out these children's homes; a plan which has only recently been uncovered. The kids were told that they would be adopted by loving families in Australia. And they were shipped off by the thousands. It was as simple as that.

Your own government was shipping poor bloody kids out here to top up the "white population".

As you see, the Brits still had a strong hand in Australian politics long into the 20th century.

Those same authorities were still trying to oppress the Irish and Catholic populations out here too.

Which is why the Irish and Aboriginals actually inter-married quite a bit back in the day.

Both were treated like crap by the Protestant British system which held onto power here for a long long time.

Like the USA, Australia has had almost exclusively Anglo-Saxon Protestant heads of state.

I have been living in australia for 2 years now. my kids have had to learn about aboriginal culture etc. Yes, there is still racism about but they are trying to deal with it. All this stems from a made up quote which attempts to stereotype aussies as racist. In my view they are no better / worse than the UK. I am an immigrant and have been disadvantaged by that, harder to get a rental as a lot of pommes skip out on rentals etc. Hard to get first job as had no australian experience, but i have also had a lot of help and met many great aussies ( of many racial backgrounds ).
