The Lost Children - CBS News

Your own government was shipping poor bloody kids out here to top up the "white population".

As you see, the Brits still had a strong hand in Australian politics long into the 20th century.

I'm well aware of children being shipped off to Australian families and being used as slave labour and subjected to physical and sexual abuse. There were public apologies made for that crime also, but don't deny the stealing of aboriginal babies for 70 years or more, as I said. Anything but hilarious, surely?

seriuosly, why is it racist?

It's racist because those intolerant Guardianistas like Nibble have deemed it to be racist. Ofcourse it isn't racist to any reasonable, moderate person who isn't determined to feel morally superior.

The irony is the hilarious part.

Unfortunately many children were taken from their parents, but there's also a lot of lies and propaganda involved in the "stolen generation" issues.

As soon as left wing dimwits get involved the truth disappears and the propaganda starts.

It's not so much that I deem it racist, just ignorant and unwilling to get to the facts behind a given situation. Besides if we are saying the original speech is racist it's kind of irrelevant as it is false and has clearly either been made up out of bits and bobs and enhanced by a racist or an extreme lefty trying to make Australians seem racist. Either way, it's a facile, disingenuous piece of crap.

I dont actually believe that to be true... thats not to start an argument...its just that ive not seen credible examples of what you say..

Plenty of examples of it.

Racism used to be construed as pertaining to skin colour.

Now it encompasses nationalities, cultures, religions etc

It's meaning has changed a lot over the years.

Ah, so the "stolen generations" is full of lies and propoganda to slur the Australian nation but the "lost children" is an accurate portrayal of the barbaric Brits!

What a very objective viewpoint.

Actually, the more I look at Cecil Rhodes quotes, the more I admire the man:

"I contend that we are the finest race in the world and that the more of the world we inhabit the better it is for the human race...What an alteration there would be if they Africans were brought under Anglo-Saxon influence". Cecil Rhodes.

Fair enough comment that if the British had retained control of the African countries we settled they would be much much better places to live than the absolute basket cases they have become since we handed over independence.

Do you not think that part of the reason those countries are now 'basket cases' (as you put it) is down to being under British control previously? They seemed to have managed beforehand OK.

Hey! Australia is an amazing country. It's not just the weather that is great. It has a fair system of government; it looks on all peoples with a positive attitude, encouraging them no matter what their colour or creed; it's encourages entrepreneurialism and discourages divisive policies. It's culturally rich displaying the very best in design, art, theatre and science, and it's welcoming.

That's why there are so many Australians in London. Oh, no, hang on, er, that can't be right.

Seriously guys - let he who is without sin and all that...

Hard to get first job as had no australian experience, but i have also had a lot of help and met many great aussies ( of many racial backgrounds ).

I think you'll find it won't matter what background someone is to most Aussies, so long as you're a good bloke, work hard and don't mind a BBQ in summer with the neighbours.

Anyone who's lived out here a while will have seen a change in the demographics of couples changing.

In 50 years time a fair % of kids will be the product of a European and Asian parent marriage.

where africa is concerned the overwhelming problem is tribalism..........it is a well known fact amongst those who have studied the place.
