Just for arguments sake do you know what Sharia Law entails? It is only extremists that practice stonin etc. Most Muslims in most country's want to adapt Sharia Law to suit the laaws of their new host nation. I bet you couldn't tell me the first damn thing about Sharia Law.

I'm fully aware of what it is. I'm also aware a lot of issues put down to "Islam" aren't even the issue. It's down to culture.

All the crap over the burqa and it's ties to Islam over look the fact its a cultural decision, not a religious one.

We are very fortunate to be native English speakers. It almost removes the need for us to waste our time learning foreign languages.

"Ask any man what nationality he would prefer to be, and ninety nine out of a hundred will tell you that they would prefer to be Englishmen". Cecil Rhodes.

If I were you I'd start learning Chinese.

And their culture will be all the the poorer for it.

Not sure how you work that out.
Surely anyone from another culture who wants to live in Australia but accepts that they have no right to demand changes will mix and, yes, will enhance the culture ?

The extremists who demand to have the laws changed to allow their 'rights' have no intention of mixing and want to set up their own areas where they live by the ways of the country they left.
That will not add to the host countries culture.

I moved to Malta - I accept their culture and rules and would not dream of demanding everything to be the same as the UK. (Although a lot of the laws are :))

yeah........200 years ago........what's your point...?

Yeah, sssh..should brush that little fact under the carpet...
Its a non issue...this statement is bollocks anyway...

When your nation is founded on a theft, its a bit silly to be high and mighty about future people arriving.
However, these silly posts are sent out by racists to rally support.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard- Australia
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks..
Separately, Gillard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying she supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:
'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. '
'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.'
'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society ... learn the language!'
'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'
'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'
'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'
'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here.
So accept the country YOU accepted.'

It would be wonderful to hear something similar from our politicians ... but they can leave out the God nonsense.
ok Nibble , here I am, I know you've been waiting................ This has been doing the round for years , I first saw it with john Howard as prime minister , its meant to be a fake , whatever , I agree with it 100% , nobody minds people keeping some of their culture when they emigrate to another country, its to be expected , but there are large swathes of communities here who still live as if they are in rural sylhet or some other third world area. albeit with the benefits of the welfare state, I wish our politicians would have the gumption to stand up and say what a lot of people think.

Actually, the more I look at Cecil Rhodes quotes, the more I admire the man:

"I contend that we are the finest race in the world and that the more of the world we inhabit the better it is for the human race...What an alteration there would be if they Africans were brought under Anglo-Saxon influence". Cecil Rhodes.

Fair enough comment that if the British had retained control of the African countries we settled they would be much much better places to live than the absolute basket cases they have become since we handed over independence.

Yes, it is all in the past. Ask any aboriginal! They are all doing well. Fair Dinkum.

Thats fine as long as you dont expect the czechs to provide interpreters whenever you use official services , or to print official documents in umpteen different languages.

I do. I send my letters back if they are not printed in the queen's english.

Because white people adapted to the local Aborigine language when they landed, so why cant everybody else.

As for the Sharia Law bullshit thats being bandied there, and by such nitwits as the EDL in England...ffs..get a grip of yourselves.

Not every white person that might have a view on other cultures and our countries immigration policies, are not a party member of the EDL, if I could care I might be offended that you imply that.

Why?

You've had more race riots in 1 year than we've had in 100.

It's true that the Aborigines don't riot very often but there is nothing that has occurred in the U<K to compare with the attempted cultural and economoc destruction that was foisted on the aborogines. It wasn't until the 80's that the white Australian immigrants and their descendants stopped taking newborn babies from aboriginal mothers and giving them to white families to bring up, while telling the mothers that they had died. I think the white immigrants that did that would categorise themselves as Australians rather than English.

Wise words. Actually I like the system in the Gulf states. Come here to work if you like. You'll earn more money than back home. You can stay here as long as you are working. However it's not your home and when you finish working you can return from whence you came.

I don't think he made those comments while having the shit kicked out of him by some feral chav at a bus stop.

Nope..my gf speaks Czech... and most official docs are handled by my firm anyway...

The only time ive encountered real horror was in Holland when KPN Qwest went into liquidation and we all went on the dole there...
A hideous amount of Dutch paperwork, but friends always help in these situations, and as most English speakers get badgered with English language questions daily, it all pans out in the end

I'm a racist for pointing out a historical fact?

You must therefore be an example of an idiot with no knowledge of the subject.

We haven't had any race riots in the last year in the UK.We had some rioting and thieving last summer but it was nothing to do with race. It was triggered by the shooting of a known criminal by the police.

Well, im sorry, but if anybody believes that Sharia law would be implemented in the UK as state law is a nitwit as far as im concerened...
Theres only a couple of countries in the world that have Sharia Law as state law. To imagine it would become a reality in England is ludicrous.
