Because it's a decision based on an opinion, rather than clear fact like offside. If they had scored, it would have to be a clear and obvious error to overturn it. So if they think it's a foul, they have to give it. However, it wasn't IMO and may have cost Japan big time.
Agree on many of those you mention but don't think Ronaldo is on the same level having also watched a lot of La Liga. He often appeals but then just gets on with it when decisions don't go his way whilst looking hard done by - much like Murray. He doesn't do the endless rolls or make out he's...
I have to say the lack of respect shown by people during Pride around the war memorials infuriates me. In the water, sitting in the enclosed space, piss everywhere, cans and broken bottles. Pride is meant to be about respect for others. Where's the respect in that?
I've watched a lot of Murray and Ronaldo over the years. They're very similar in how they try to win decisions. A lot of people just don't like Ronaldo, but he's not up there in the highest category. He makes the most of things obviously, but he's no where near the level of the others I mentioned.
Players like Ronaldo are very similar to Murray in terms of their gamesmanship. Players like Neymar, Pepe and Zaha are on a completely different level. Thankfully England hasn't as of yet succumbed to the levels of cheating which is in other countries not seen as much of a big deal ... although...
Only if a genuine attempt to play the ball. He had about a 1% chance of getting the ball before the man from the position of the tackle so I don't see that as a genuine attempt!
We were talking about current form. If we're talking about over the past year Kane wasn't even the best player in England. Salah and De Bruyne clearly better than him last season. Pretty sure he won't make the Ballon d'Or top three. Most likely be Ronaldo first, Messi second and another other...
I think that should have been a red. The rules changed so that accidental fouls cannot be punished with a red and a penalty, but that was a pretty deliberate and desperate attempt to prevent a tap in. I'm rooting for Denmark though so can't say I'm too fussed.
Or 6 goals in his last 12 games for Spurs. Half fit as you say, so wasn't in top form.
Massive stretch to say currently the best player in the world on form. I know you're a Spurs fan but try to be objective!
Based on two matches at the World Cup against below average teams? He didn't look in his best form the last couple of months of the season for Spurs. Ronaldo had a ridiculous end to the season and start to the World Cup - I'd say he's currently the best player in the world on form.
I'm not sure if Spain's penalty claim was a clear and obvious error - so I can understand why it was not given - but it was definitely a talking point. So why didn't the BBC show it again and talk about it post match?
