Valid arguments for both but I can't separate them!

    [Football] Maradona

I don't think that's a fair assumption. Completely different conditions now. It depends how good he actually was, and how much he could have improved from that level to be able to be considered one of the best in the current era. Loads of players seem to have huge potential when they are young...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

The VAR team thought the ref may have potentially made a clear and obvious error by not giving a penalty, or else they wouldn't have flagged it for review. It's not as clear as you are trying to portray.

    [Football] Maradona

He might be, or he might not. We haven't seen him against the current standard. Even if you upgrade what was available to him to the current level, we don't know how he'd fare against the current level.

    [Football] Maradona

This is the impression I get from watching games from before my time. Some of the defending is hilarious. Football seems to have moved on and become far more professional. From what I gather, a lot more time is now put into preparation, tactics, fitness, diet as well as a general lift in overall...

    [Football] Iran v Portugal

Factual advice only as your paragraph explains, not incidents which are down to interpretation. And he doesn't ask for it - all of those things are automatically checked and won't result in the ref going to the side of the pitch to have another look. He will be told if a goal is offside, for...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

Well yes, I agree it should be consistent. But it isn't, which is why there is a debate to be had. You don't need to post the law. I know what it is but I explained how it can be interpreted. Even the ref tonight indicated he made the decision because the defender headed the ball first. If he...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

And as I explained refs rarely interpret that law as truly deliberate, in a really literal sense. They are given guidance on how to interpret the laws, which can vary slightly between countries. Handball can come from both action, and inaction. Former refs have talked about this, and it's why...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

Inspirational given the gap in quality. One of their best players today has just signed for Stoke in the Championship. They did really well to restrict Argentina to so little. The margins were very tight, they could have won it. The major chance was saved by the goalkeeper, so he did hit the...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

The law says deliberate but it's very rare that a player truly deliberately handles a ball. It's interpreted loosely such that if players doesn't make an effort not to handle the ball when they could do so then it's often given as handball. His arm was outstretched and it stopped the ball going...

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

I think they did well to restrict Argentina to so few opportunities. They did their best against better opponents but it just wasn't quite enough.

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

You do talk some utter bollocks on here. Inspirational Nigerian performance. They did not deserve that. Chances to put the game to bed but didn't have the quality to finish.

Maradona giving 2 middle fingers to the Nigerians. Classy.

Not sure whether that was a pen. He blocked the attacker getting the ball with his arm out.

Why is Mascherano still on the pitch? Blood all over his face. He needs to get it cleaned off.

    [Football] Nigeria v Argentina.

Mascherano has got away with so many dirty tactics over the years - that's poetic justice.

    [Albion] Alireza Jahanbakhsh joins Feyenoord

Izquierdo has only played once. Was alright first half, anonymous second. Obviously didn't help that they were down to ten men.

Surely it's the fault of the VAR officials for initiating the review in the first place? Therefore, it was the fault of VAR. It was VAR being used incorrectly. Nothing clear and obvious about the pen so the ref review should have never been initiated.
