    [Football] Iran v Portugal

It was the correct decision, but I don't think the ref made a potentially clear and obvious error by not awarding a red, so IMO they shouldn't have stopped play. The ref shouldn't get involved unless there's a clear and obvious error. I don't think many people really think it was a red unless...

    [Football] Iran v Portugal

Yes, loads of people are having a go at the ref, and rightly so, but it all stems from the people looking at the incidents initiating three VAR reviews for potential clear and obvious errors, where in my mind none of those incidents were clear and obvious.

    [Football] Iran v Portugal

I agree, but I'm optimistically hoping it's just because the players haven't got used to the system yet, i.e. VAR checks everything, so they can't cheat the officials. For the most part, the playacting hasn't led to anything.

The ref was clueless, but I think it stems from the guys looking at the decisions from elsewhere. They are only meant to say when there's a clear and obvious error. If they do communicate, it puts the ref under pressure to change his mind. Last night was the first time I can remember that after...

What is this 'block' feature you speak of? Never heard of it. ???

I agree with this. I like VAR but this World Cup is too soon. There needed to be a longer trial and training period. Many of the refs don't have any VAR experience.

14 European countries at the World Cup but FIFA only choose nine refs from Europe. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/fifa-world-cup/story/3490061/mark-clattenburg-accepts-part-of-blame-for-no-british-refs-at-world-cup

    [Football] Iran v Portugal

The FA did try and offer a replacement but FIFA refused. I disagree with that and think it was extremely short sighted. Relatively speaking, the Premier League has some of the best officials in the world who are used to games of a high magnitude. To be honest, the ref reminded me of Mr Dean who...

I'm still annoyed that the ref didn't add the correct amount of added time and no one on TV mentioned it.

    [Football] Iran v Portugal

My sincere apologies. I get frustrated with the trend of demonstrably false information being passed around the interwebs. It often starts with people who have an agenda or who are just talking out their arse, who then pass that false information onto others who won't necessarily have any reason...

    [Football] Iran v Portugal

This has already been explained many times. There's no English refs because Clattenburg couldn't be replaced after he went to Saudi Arabia. I think I even recall someone explaining this to you in another thread?

3 mins between VAR review and goal but only 1 extra min added on.

VAR has been very inconsistent this World Cup. Think Pique should have had a red in the other game.

Not sure that was a clear and obvious error.

Never heard of that before. The system's changing next month anyway: http://www.espn.co.uk/football/fifa-world-cup/story/3522329/fifa-world-ranking-gets-overhaul-to-stop-manipulation-for-draw-seedings

Very sloppy in the second half, but somewhat understandable given the situation.

Why only 2 minutes added? Should be 5 or 6.

I think that's probably the best penalty I've ever seen in my life.

I'm absolutely astonished that no VAR review took place there. How obvious does it need to be?
