Amberley Maverick for me tomorrow morning. 23km in what looks like ‘interesting’ weather. I think the running tights may have to make their seasonal debut for this one!
Very pleased this morning. Best parkrun time for more than five years and best ever AG of 73.41%. I’ve felt a good time has been coming, conditions were perfect so tried to just keep ahead of the 21 min pacer which worked.
In other news, I see Geraldine Moffat ran an 18:58 pb for an AG of...
Notters - to add to the 'small world isn't it'. Did you see the woman who was doing the ultra on Saturday and added in the parkrun? Turns out she hosts a parkrun podcast with Mark Brocklehurst, Event Director at Hove Prom. Mark spotted me in her video of the day!
Here it is if anyone interested...
Yes Saltaire at Roberts Park - we’ll definitely do this one soon as really enjoy visiting Saltaire but they’re not running on Christmas Day. Don’t particularly fancy running on Woodhouse Moor as brings back too many memories of being chased over there when I was student in the 1980’s!
Chevin...
Yes it was the all seeing Gaffer who told me you were there - after the event! And yes, it was us who got place-checked at the start- it never occurred to me that someone else from NSC would be at this one - shame as it would have been nice to say hello! My finishing time of 23:42 will gve me...
Chevin Forest parkrun for me - near Otley, north of Leeds. I understand I wasn’t the only NSC runner there, right Notters ?
New-ish course - 12th parkrun - really nice through the forest on the Chevin, a big hill above Otley, with two vicious climbs and an uphill finish which will explain the...
Saw you finishing - glanced at my watch - it said 18:01 - thought that’s going to be close! Well done. Sorry not to see you afterwards but had to buy some breakfast for Mrs Simgull!
I took it fairly easy for the first half, pacing a friend looking for 24mins but also due to last night’s beers...
Best parkrun for nearly three years for me on Hove Prom this morning. 21:15, AG 72.31 - even managed to finish ahead of Ninja Elephant thanks to his self imposed handicapping system of starting late!
Hoping with a bit more speed work to get sub-21 again.
In other news, I’ve entered Maverick...
Tinto Taperia next to the Theatre Royal last night before going to the Dome theatre. Surprisingly good tapas, (although not sure morcilla needs to be battered), reasonably sized around £6 each. What really made the place though was the service. How nice to have waitresses who knew everything...
Beautiful conditions at Hove Park this morning prompted an SB 21:23 and AG 71.86% which should be good enough to push me up the table a couple of places. 28th place and a rare, for Hove Park, age category win may be a result of tomorrow’s HM abut you can only beat the opposition in front of you...
Ooh good question - I think this may be my Christmas present this year so also looking for recommendations. Also must meet mandatory kit requirements for ultras ie ‘taped seams’ I think.
Brilliant run - congratulations.
From your report and others I’ve read, plus the tv coverage, it seems to have been a much happier event than Brighton. Hopefully we can now put that down to the heat on the day rather than the slight concern of some underlying COVID related issue giving runners...
just getting fuel at Sainsbury at west Hove. Longish but well organised 20 min queue round the carpark
Asda T Hollingury also open at the mo but didn’t fancy queuing on the road
My first views of the Tour de France which I have loved ever since - Eddie Mercyx et al.
Speedway.
The interminable racing results, whilst waiting for the football results.
Obscure sports like Lumberjack standing on logs in a lake competitions (or did I dream that?)
Goodwood is the best for this 5k, 10k, HM, 20m and Marathon all using the same track simultaneously but starting at different times. Plenty of distance markers but all the same colour so no knowing which race they relate to! A watch is pretty essential!
