Hi all
You may notice, I've posted a thread looking for volunteer support for the marathon. It would great if any of you could comment (in a supportive way!), to keep the post prominent and even better if any of you could help out by volunteering! It really is a lot of fun if you have n't done...
Brighton Marathon is two weeks today on Sunday 10th April, as you all know it's a great day for the city, raises a lot for charities and is recognised as one of the best marathons for support.
For all the obvious reasons, they are desperately short of volunteers to help make the day a success...
Haha! Shows how personal it all is, It’s my GAS (Go-Away-Shoe), it’s the only shoe I really didn’t like - felt like I was running in shoe-boxes. Very much each to their own!!
Just setting off for Devon to run the 20 mile Grizzly on Sunday. Off road, lots of hills, lots of mud and a river to...
300th parkrun for me today. Nice to see knocky1 on the Prom for a sunny run in a chilly wind. Should be looking for my next t-shirt around April 2026 I reckon!
Ha I used to look on in envy at how many parkruns you’d done! Now it will be my 300th on Saturday. I am planning on doing the prom (as long as they clear the pebbles) - if anyone wants to come and say hello!
After a massive dump of snow here at Serre-Chevalier, THE big news is none other than Djibril Cisse is doing a dj set in the car park after skiing on Wednesday. Can’t wait!!!
As ever with running shoes I think personal choice coming down to fit and comfort is more important than recommendations. Personally I use Saucony Hurricanes for heavy conditions and Hoka Speedgoats when it’s drier but I know people who hate them!
Best advice is to see Kurt at Run on...
Day 2 in Serre Cheavlier, France. Big dump of snow overnight which it needed, although pistes were skiable yesterday. Not been here before but it does feel a bit quiet even though it’s French half term. Our hotel is certainly not full and many chalets are not open because of them being a shared...
Inspired by the challenge of the new NSC table, I ran my best parkrun since July 2016 this morning. Probably peaked too early and won’t be troubling you again after today knocky1 but please enter me at 20:51, AG 73.70%.
From the Zoe study. First time we’ve seen a green number since Omicron started having an impact. A long way to go yet but positive signs in the trend.
By the way - if anyone doesn’t contribute to the Zoe data it’s a really good thing to participate in. https://covid.joinzoe.com/us-2
As it’s new, maybe check all the settings carefully - how frequently it collects the data and which GPS system it’s using? On a Garmin these can changed to trade off accuracy vs. battery life.
Scared myself with the realisation of a 20 mile off-roader only being two months away. Need to start upping the mileage a bit! Started with 11 miles of sunshine and mud on the Downs this morning.
Well it’s nearly 4am and I’m looking forward to four hours sleep and then parkrun in the morning.
Yes it’s on but no NYD doubles. I think Bevendean is off in case you fancied that with a hangover!
Definitely no doubles on NYD - it all became a bit unmanageable last time with nearly a thousand runners at each- I think the general view was it had just become unfair as it put too much pressure on the volunteers as the chances of something going wrong were much higher with so many people. I...
Happy Christmas running chums.
Chevin Forest parkrun for me - properly muddy and 17th place and robbed of a pb when a horse interrupted play on the second lap.
Have a great Christmas everyone and hope to see you soon for some running fun.
Impressive end of year form.
I went down to the Prom - bitter easterly wind made running conditions a bit unpleasant but happy enough with 21:06.
Hit 1500 miles for the year this week.
Notters - we may well be at Chevin Forest parkrun on Christmas Day if you’re around - although appreciate...
Ah yes - I'd forgotten about that! Thanks for driving carefully with us runners all around you!
Its never happened in previous years, and the good thing is I think both drivers and runners seemed to just behave sensibly and respect each other yesterday. Agree though would be better avoided in...
Sorry you didn’t make it and hope you feel better soon.
Mince Pie was its usual fun self -it always feels like the start of Christmas to me and it’s the event you’ll see almost everyone you know who runs - having said that apart from soistes I didn’t see any NSC runners? See below*
It was a...
Maverick Amberley was fun. Freezing cold at the start but although some sections were exposed to the wind, quite a bit was through forests so well sheltered. The run starts with two big climbs, I probably went too hard at these and struggled a bit towards the end. Finished in 2:15, 65th out of...
