I see your point though, it just seems strange to me that Nazism is considered that bit more evil than other regimes when statistically they were not really. I think the main reason is down to the Holocaust (which simply by having a name sets it aside from other genocides) and the seemingly industrial methods used to persecute the Jews (though again persecuting the Jews was even at the time most definitely not confined to the Nazis).
China is about as communist as Florida.
National Socialism sets itself apart from other bloodsoaked regimes in that it's core aim was the physical extermination of the Jews and any others considered "sub-human". Stalin was obviously guilty of the murder of millions but few would view his crimes as ideological ones rather than the actions of a demented power crazed uber-nationalist.
If we are playing numbers games more people died in the Bengal famine and other preventable famines under the Raj than under Franco, does that make the British Empire better or worse than Spanish clerical-fascism ?
I find the use of the swastika offensive (partly because I am the grandson of a Jewish Pole) but I also believe that the right to offend is part of democracy.
