The Nazis didn't kill anything like 100 million people either. In fact if we are going to go purely on volume killed, the entire brand of clothing called USSR should go at once.

edit: or is it CCCP? Either way, you know what I'm talking about!

Exactly how may people died as a result of the 1st and 2nd world wars then????? Please fill in my knowledge gap.....?

Just the 30 milion was it? That's alright then.

Difficult to put a figure on it exactly, but I would contend it's significantly less than that too, probably in the order of about 8 to 10 million I feel.

If you are really pathetic enough to think that my last comment (or indeed this one!) is condoning Nazism then you are an utter fuckwit LI. I was merely making the point that many regimes (most notably the USSR under Stalin and before that Lenin & Trotsky) have killed more people than the Nazis but rightly or wrongly don't have the stigma associated with Nazism.

The Nazis were nothing to do with the first World War, and perhaps an estimated 30 million or so (maybe more, we'll never know for sure) died as a result of the Second. However not all of these deaths can be attributed to the Nazis, for obvious reasons.

Not forgetting the amount of non jews that died at the hands of the Nazis.

Indeed. Roughly 6 million Jews were killed as a result of the Holocaust, an indeterminate but probably quite high number of combatants were obviously killed too and quite a lot of civilians. Plus maybe 500,000 non-Jewish victims of Nazi racial policy who did not fit their profile of the perfect Aryan being.

plUS 2 MILLION german troops, 4 million Soviet troops.

An estimated million Socialists, communists, gypsies.

And god knows how many civilians through starvation, ill treatment, bombings etc

Cities such as Dresden, Berlin, Cologne completely flattened.

The swastika, I believe is now an illegal symbol in Italy, Germany and Austria. WE know what it means in the European context especially by people with racist leanings or thick as pig ****.

Another product of our university system who descends into childish chav language instantly his point is questioned. Really, really pathetic :)

Of course you weren't condoning Nazism, where did I say that?

What you are doing is blowing up a smokescreen on a thread about Nazi symbolism by trying to distract the subject on to other matters. If you do that of course, you let the likes of Oceanic and his use of offensive symbolism off the hook.

I think the reason for using the swastika was to make a point about the more dictorial way by which Tony is managing the country, rather than its historical use, that some find rightly offensive.... It just is not on here in that capacity.. I actually don't think that Oceanic was implying the slaughter of innocents....

So is it just Tony supporters that are offended? This is why this whole kin country is going mad.......chill fu**ing out.

Talking of slaughter of innocents we could start a thread on Iraq and discuss???????

eeerrrr..... 62million actually, and a good 15-20 million of those were in the far east, not strictly much to do with the swastika i would say.

Hey, Oceanic, it ain't big and it ain't clever.

Or maybe it is. Reported it to the mods about four hours ago when at least three of them were online. It's still there.

Oh well.

..... and how do you know it isn't the Hindu version, which actually pre-dates the german use of the 'swastika' by some margin.
