So no one should have a avatar depicting the white rose of Yorkshire either then.

Did you knoiw that before the Nazis took it as their icon the Swastika was actually a symbol of good luck ? British airmen in World War 1 would have the Swastika painted on their wings and fuselarge.

Good knowledge!

The swastika is a holy symbol in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.

The motif seems to have first been used by early inhabitants of Eurasia. However, it was also adopted in Native American cultures, seemingly independently. The swastika is now used universally in religious and civil ceremonies in India. Most Indian temples, wedding, festivals and celebrations are decorated with swastikas. The symbol was introduced to Southeast Asia by Hindu kings and remains an integral part of Balinese Hinduism to this day, and a common sight in Indonesia. By the early 20th century it was widely used worldwide, and was regarded as a symbol of good luck and auspiciousness.

In Mein Kampf, Hitler described the Nazis' new flag: "In red we see the social idea of the movement, in white the nationalistic idea, in the swastika the mission of the struggle for the victory of the Aryan man, and, by the same token, the victory of the idea of creative work, which as such always has been and always will be anti-Semitic." (pg. 496-497)

Because of the Nazis' flag, the swastika soon became a symbol of hate, antisemitism, violence, death, and murder.

Are you sure about that?

I thought that by the end of the 19th century, the swastika was the official emblem of the German Gymnasts' League.

Then at the beginning of the 20th century, the swastika was a common symbol of German nationalism.

It dates back approx 3000 yrs as well. First used in Troy.

We are agreed that it did mean good luck and well being though.

The Nazis didn't kill anything like 100 million people either. In fact if we are going to go purely on volume killed, the entire brand of clothing called USSR should go at once.

edit: or is it CCCP? Either way, you know what I'm talking about!

Hey, looney, thought you'd have learnt by now, despite your Thatcher era lack of education, that the devil gets all the best tunes and the left wing gets ALL the best arguments. ;)

And once they appear as an avatar, I'm sure they will!

Perhaps wearing a t-shirt on the street is more noticeable than having an avatar on an internet messageboard?

Mind you for some of the people on here I doubt it.
