Latest few reporter tweets listing him as "critically ill in intensive care". This doesn't necessarily contradict 'stable', we often here in hospital cases of people being "stable, but critical". Just seems to almost be more dramatic. Either he has had downturn or the press are starting to get more sensationalist.

Bad news sells papers, all journalists are scum

They followed that quote on Sky Sports News with "and we'll be running with this story through the night."
I know it's a news story and they wont be able to leave it alone, but i always find it a strange thing to say after hearing someone wants to be left alone and not talked of. Now, of course, i'm mentioning it too.
I'm glad you have tactfully mentioned that, as I was all for wadding in with my size nines, re 5-live's coverage.

Now it might just have been timing, but I had the radio on @ 11pm while going to sleep, all hushed tones & reverential.
I was woken by one of my dogs @ 4:30, radio back on and again all hushed tones & reverential.
Awake an hour later and still, all hushed tones & reverential.

Like I said it might just have been my timing, for Muamba, and the bits of coverage I heard for the 6 soldiers, but they didn't seem to get the same reverential hushed tones.

At least Muamba got immediate good medical treatment, and is now in the right place.
10 years ago he'd have had a St John's Ambulance man, with a young'un running onto the pitch.

Sorry for your uncle MB.

Just read on the Foxes forum that they are going to try & get both sets of fans to get a Muamba chant going during the 41st minute of today's game. Would be a fantastic gesture if they pull it off & seen around the world. Lump in the throat just reading it!

On radio Sussex news at 12 the bbc reporter said that muamba's heart did not start again until he reached hospital and that he will remain anaesthetised for the next 24 hours.

Be strong fella, the whole footballing world from the biggest stars to kids who love the game are rooting for you.

Blimey that's way to long a time, which wouldn't have done his brain any favours.

I'm not medical expert but isn't the issue with the brain to do with lack of oxygen. Isn't part of CPR to regularly put oxygen into the lungs which should be enough for his brain to be ok. He had attention immediately so perhaps the brain might be ok.
I'm not 100% so stand to be corrected.

It was just my first thought.

Still as I said earlier, he's in the right place now, and had some pretty good help to get him there.

Being at the game myself, I can honestly say I've never felt an atmosphere like that when he initially collasped. As it was close to HT, I was down on the concourse purchashing an over-priced bottle of shit lager when it happened - can safely say you could of heard a pin drop on the concourse. Chilling experience.

Indeed. CPR, especially when expertly delivered and supported with the right equipment, can sustain brain activity for quite a long time.

I would urge everyone to do a course. People often collapse and stop breathing in places that aren't immediately accessible to professional support. It's easy for anyone to learn how to keep oxygen reaching the brain.

This, and its important to remember that a very small percentage of people will recover from manual CPR alone so it is very important to call for professional help straightaway.

In some ways this was the beat place for it to happen, in a stadium in London where he had immediate high quality help and in close proximaty to a specialist hospital. He could have been jogging in Bolton.

Hope he pulls through.

Praying? When did the atheists start believing again?

Atheists can still think and hope, but they don't recognise anyone on the other end. Let's hope Muamba pulls through, so that we can praise and worship the medical staff from both teams on the pitch, the ambulance crew and those working in the hospital. They deserve all of the credit if he makes it, not a man in the sky.

Spot on gaz.

As strange as this may sound, if it was going to happen, it probably happened in one of the best places.

He had medical experts with him seconds after it happened, and, like all of us, I hope so much that may have saved the boy's life.

As you say, if he was out jogging, or wherever, I think this thread may well be a lot more sombre.

I don't want to seem callous, but why do we need to? We all want him to be ok and wish him the best, but it's not a competition to see which club/player/set of fans can be the most supportive.

These days it seems like it's not enough to feel for someone suffering, there's a requirement to show everyone else that you feel for them. I haven't said a word about Muamba on Twitter or Facebook, but it doesn't mean I don't hope he pulls through. I just personally feel it would be a bit trite for me to do so.

This. Leave it to the Bolton fans (and probably the Liverpool ones who will somehow claim him as one of their own to ensure they get the opportunity for some self-pity).
