Did people ever think Peter Ward would come back to Brighton on loan from Forest?

And it was his goal at Newcastle that put us on the road to Wembley. Didn't Melia have the chance to re-sign him but chose not to?

The message is the same in footy as in life - never go back. Unless you've left your wallet:p

Bobby has gone and that's it. Coming back would be a terrible admission of faliure on his behalf. I reckon he will be out on loan soon but not to us.

bOLLOX. No admission of failure at all. The club want to loan him out. He joins a set up he's comfortable with and where the fans love him. He isnt admitting failure, hes bidding his time untill he has the first team experience under his belt. If we bought him perminatly that could be admitting failure, but goign on loan to improve his chances in the long run certainly isnt.

Ward came home. So might bobby. Don't discount it.

Ward DID come back on loan from Forest in 82 and has said that he would have signed for us but the move was blocked by Brian Clough's sheer spite becaiuse he wouldn't let ward play in the Cup Final (Ward had played in the third round v Newcastle) because Clough hadn't played in a Cup final and saw no reason why Ward should -

Cardiff swoop for McAnuff

Cardiff City have agreed a deal to sign wide right midfielder Joel McAnuff from West Ham United.
The 22-year-old Jamaican international is expected to arrive at Ninian Park on Thursday morning for a medical.

The signing of McAnuff, who could make his debut on Friday night against Plymouth Argyle, is likely to end interest in West Brom's Sean Gregan.

McAnuff made his name with Wimbledon, now renamed Milton Keynes Dons, before joining the Hammers last February.

But opportunities at Upton Park have proved limited for the exciting youngster, who can provide some much-needed width to the Bluebirds' attack.

McAnuff is likely to contest the right midfield berth with fellow Jamican international Richard Langley, who had been linked with a move back to former club QPR in the off-season

That's brilliant. Cloughies a legend. Can you see Arsene 'Steve Davis' Wenger coming up with something like that?!

Still Somewhere in Sussex!
If Zamora did return to Brighton on loan, West Ham could say he's not allowed to play against the team that holds his contract in any matches.

Newcastle were pissed off that they didn't include that line in Lua Lua's loan to Portsmouth last season, as he scored against them :lolol: :lolol: :clap2:

Blimey - this one got the tongues wagging!

I don't think it's entirely implausible.

Bobby looks very low on confidence not surprisingly, so won't get a starting chance at West Ham. He needs goals - so will have to go on loan or rot in the reserves. Given his record with Spurs and W Ham not many First Division clubs would be clamouring to take him on, and there are v good reasons for ruling out the others (promotion rivals).

No admission of failure because if Bobby has a good season, he'll get his career back on track and everyone wins.

So that only leaves wages. We have some budget for a striker left so a percentage deal might work. I'd be very surprised if Albion didn't enquire when the Hammers were signing striker after striker.

Coppell will get the sack, Mcghee will go back to Reading all forgiven and Dick will use the compensation to install 2,000 extra seats at the west end of the ground.

Bobby scored 14-odd goals in this division 2 years ago, so he is a proven scorer at this level.

Reading and Leicester have plenty of strikers, otherwise they'd be in poll position. I would have thought Ipswich might be interested or, God forbid, Palace.
