Bad start to the year. My Mum died at the relatively young age of 64. Found out my Girlfriend had been cheating on me while I was visiting my dying mother. Decided to f*** off all the negative things in my life, it's too f***ing short. Decided to follow what I have been wanting to do for ages. Got shot of crap girlfriend, moved to a place I love and started again. Am now loving my life and all in the space of 3 months. Just wish my Mum had been around to see it but she made it happen.
Sorry to hear about your mum, and good on you for turning it around Nibble.

Thanks people, I didn't post that as a "look at me" post but more to say that, as cliche as it sounds, try and get over the shite. I don't kow how bad some others have it but if you can, do something about it now.

This is EXACTLY why some people find you difficult, US. You see the negative in everything.

As I said - celebrate your life's achievements and experiences, rather than dwelling on money / career / etc.

I wonder why when a group of people kick you in the bollocks routinely and tell you, you are shit. I can look in the mirror and say I did try and do some good things and positive things in my life. Anyway the thread was started and I replied. No more case study and I have not elaborated on anything as I have done that before and frankly no one gives a toss but I am pleased some good people on here are having a good life lets hope it continues. Time for a walk.

But, as above - when someone tells you are have done GOOD things, you choose to read that as "you are shit"! Weird.

Enjoy your walk in the sunshine.

Personally having the worst couple of years but trying to stay positive. As a generally happy person, i did struggle with the dark periods but was very lucky to have the most supportive friends and family. Although i appreciate the sentiment that 'there are others worse off then us' it is pretty difficult to hear when you are in the middle of a personal crisis.

Nice try but it doesn't wash.

It is a question of perspective. Sometimes it is hard to make yourself look at things from a positive perspective but this year so far has been trying. One friend died suddenly, another had to have an emergency breast cancer op, my father had a triple bypass out of nowhere, this year has been a financial disaster and for the first time in years I am unable to buy something we really need, my wife's job looks like going down the pan and thus our children's future education is in danger

BUT

I have a lovely wife and kids who flourish.... we ve had lots of visits this summer from family and friends, no MS attack this year (touch wood) and some interesting job opps for next year.

So.... which side shall I look?

Wife and kids win hands down (with the health). I am still LUCKY!

Well for a start, stop looking at life in years... You can have good days, good weeks, but when you get into the mindset that 'this year is shit' it is difficult to get out of it and good days and good weeks are much harder to come by.

Live life by the day, not by the year...

Tell you what. IF I ever fell on hard times or had a crisis in my life NSC would be the LAST place I would announce it/discuss it/seek support from. Closely followed by facebook or twatter or any social media.

There are specialist websites for this sort of thing, enotalone for example, where they are strictly moderated so any "piss takers" are immediately kicked off the website.

Sorry to hear that Nibble :(

Similarly because I was/am single I decided to do something I always wanted to do which was to go to every Albion game one season and thats something I did last year.

Its not alot or indeed life changing but I feel better for having done it.
