If you get insurance for your bike outside of the house, remember to get a 'gold standard' lock. It's normally tucked away in the small print and they won't cough up without proof you had one attached. Each policy will be different of course, just read all the terms and cons!

Awful things! Bought one last winter and used it about ten times. Saying that, SB is right. The sufferfest videos make it bearable in that the times flies when doing one!

Fantastic. If you need a partner for shuttles on the Beacon then let me know :D Although the Bostal in reverse is probably a better reflection of the gradients you'll face. I guess you had a nice tailwind coming back from LA today.

Oh right! You describe it well, I remember hanging onto Bolds wheel until the start of the Beacon. I didn't unfortunately. Are you in?

If anyone needs some motivation for winter riding, here it is: http://puncheur.co.uk/ 65 miles, starting in Ditchling and finishing on top of the Beacon. Bold did it last year so hopefully he'll be game again. Thought it would interest Pogue and Hamilton too.

Good effort, forecast is decent. Got out for 40 miles today, my first Strava entry since 12th November! I'm shattered.

I'm a little late to the party, but a big shout to SB for sorting out the caps. I was out of the office on Friday, which is where they were delivered, so I didn't get my grubby mits on them until today. My work colleague and fellow cyclist was also a very grateful recipient of an NSC cycling...

The Bostal in reverse is a good call. The gradient is reasonably constant. 5:50 up the Bostal is fantastic, my PB is 6.30 something so I've got a new challenge for the rest of the summer! I'm going to look into this for next year, thanks for sharing with us. The water situation sounds good...

Wow, sounds fantastic! Well bloody done. To my shame, I had no idea of the scale of the Etape, what a huge event. What sort of training did you do to replicate those sorts of climbs? I've added this to my list of cycling challenges. When I'm on the bike I drink like a fish, I'd be worried...

Very much this. I couldn't fnd the Bignor climb when I was last in the area, although I now know where I went wrong. Will get a picture when I finally drag myself up it.

As TMS said, don't do it! The trick is, be prepared to ride out volatility. If you believe in a trade don't get sucked in by short term noise. Provided you have the margin of course :-)

From the racecourse we headed north through Eartham and took a left onto Selhurst Park Road. I used every single gear at my disposal during the day! My problem was preparation, hadn't touched my bike for 3 weeks and just got back from a boozy holiday. Hitting 'The Wall' at 90 miles was...

We all made it! Times taken from Strava: Bold Seagull - 8.01 Pogue Mahone - 8.01 Spreadbetting Seagull - 8.22 Hamilton - 8.22 Fantastic route, great weather and plenty of Albion related chat for the 80 odd miles that we stuck together. Hamilton and I couldn't maintain the pace of BS & PM for...

Looking forward to it. Forecast is dry, can't ask for more than that given the 'summer' we've had so far!

Popped my bike down to Rayment Cycles yesterday as it had a few niggles. It's come back with a new chainset and bottom bracket - just as well I took her down! You can enter on the day if you fancy joining us.....

I love TVR's. Why 4 years? I'm hoping to get a Cerbera next year. A Tuscan is probably more sensible though!
