But most of us agree that Bush and Blair's actions were not justified, so using that as your base is not a good start. And I don't see many of use saying the deaths involved were collateral damage.

I think Blair and Bush should face trial for war crimes, so again, not a great comparison.

Yes I agree they should for invading a soveriegn country under dubious claims.

Assad on the other hand is just defending his country, Shias, Christians and his Alawite people against ISIS, Al-Nusra and multiple Sunni rebel factions. If you or I was in his position we would have done the same.

When push comes to shove against ISIS it is only the Syrian army, the Kurds, Hezbollah and Iran who have got boots on the ground to take them on. A decimated Syrian army doesn’t help to defeat ISIS.

Really? We must have very different opinions on what he's done.

Whilst I can understand the 'moral' call for Blair to be indicted for war crimes, in financial terms a successful prosecution would bankrupt this country!

Clearly :)

I see Assad being defensive against multiple rebel groups who are using US supplied arms and rockets, whilst also having to fight Al Nusra and ISIS.

The Sunni Saudi's and Turks want him out, but if he was Sunni he wouldn't be a problem. Simple as that and I haven't got it in me to be on the Saudi side.

Stupid move by Turkey if true.
Stupid move by Russia as well.

Turkey has been warning them in the strongest terms over the last day or so about the planes flying into Turkish airspace.

Two wrongs don't make a right and shooting down a Russian jet is extreme.

Assad could say the same to Turkey about using his airspace and maybe he will now. Then Russia will shoot down Turkish jets accordingly.

So the result is any military jets can fly anywhere in the world ? ???

Interesting change in the concept of sovereignty, I suppose.

Nothing on BBC. Sounds like bollocks from the Express (no surprise there).

clearly bollocks, even from the Express article where the area of the incident is some 20-30 miles from the border.

Two wrongs don't make a right and shooting down a Russian jet is extreme.

well with in their rights if Russians stray over into their airspace. Russia doesnt need to so would only do so as a deliberate provaction.

Similar but not very similar, RT is no doubt far more partisan but both are going
to represent their countries self-interest as that's what they are for/ we expect
More partisan! Russian TV can't criticise Putin or his government at all. We get plenty of criticism of our government, its decision to go to war with Iraq etc, you'd never get that on Russian TV. And it's not just about the BBC, we have a free press, which is completely different to Russia. I can't believe you think they're similar.
