When will it time to start worrying about Russia?

Don't worry, we'll have some muppets pipe up with the Crusades proving that Christianity is as bloodthirsty as Islam
Thank goodness they'll have to go back as far as the crusades to find evidence of Christians killing anyone.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
clearly bollocks, even from the Express article where the area of the incident is some 20-30 miles from the border.

well with in their rights if Russians stray over into their airspace. Russia doesnt need to so would only do so as a deliberate provaction.
Russia shoots down planes over Ukraine instead, only it wasn't military.

US pulls aircraft carrier out of Persian Gulf as Russian ships enter

The United States has pulled the USS Theodore Roosevelt – a massive, nuclear-powered aircraft carrier – out of the Persian Gulf as Russian warships have entered the area.

For the first time since 2007, the US Navy has now no aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf, according to NBC News.

The warship was withdrawn from the Persian Gulf on Thursday, a day after Russia fired 26 long-range cruise missiles from its Caspian Flotilla against terrorists in Syria, Pentagon officials said.

US military officials claimed that the aircraft carrier, which houses about 5,000 sailors and 65 fighter jets, was withdrawn because it needed to undergo maintenance.

Tensions between the United States and Russia escalated after Moscow began its military campaign on September 30 against Daesh (ISIL) terrorists wreaking havoc in Syria.

Russia has carried out more than 110 airstrikes against terrorists in Syria so far, killing hundreds of militants.

The Pentagon announced on Wednesday that the United States had adopted measures to ensure a safe distance from Russian fighter jets flying over Syria.

Republican Senator John McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said on Thursday that Washington should "just leave" Syria "if all of your [US] actions are dictated by the risk of confrontation with Russia."

Peter Daly, a retired Navy vice admiral, noted that the absence of a US aircraft carrier is being noticed by Russians.

"The most important thing you need a carrier for is for what you don't know is going to happen next," Daly told NBC News.

Three unnamed US military officials claimed on Thursday that some cruise missiles fired from Russian ships at targets in Syria landed in Iran

The United States has pulled the USS Theodore Roosevelt out of the Persian Gulf, due to concerns in Washington over the Russian missile capability, says a military commentator.

The warship was withdrawn from the Persian Gulf on Thursday, a day after Russia fired 26 long-range cruise missiles from its Caspian Flotilla against terrorists in Syria, Pentagon officials said.

One of the reasons “impacting this decision is ...the unreliable ability of those Russian missiles,” said Michael Burns in an interview with Press TV on Saturday.

“I don’t think those are battle tested and US policy makers are afraid. God forbids one of those things land near our carrier or near one of our fleet elements,” he added.

US military officials, however, claimed that the aircraft carrier, which houses about 5,000 sailors and 65 fighter jets, was withdrawn because it needed to undergo maintenance.

For the first time since 2007, the US Navy has now no aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf.

Tensions between Washington and Moscow escalated after Russia launched its air campaign against Daesh Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

The airstrikes began hours after Washington refused to comply with Moscow’s demand to take its warplanes out of Syria.

The Associated Press reported last week that senior military leaders and defense officials are considering whether or not they should use military force against Russia if American-trained militants in Syria come under Russian fire.

The report said weighing the risks of using force in response to a Russian attack was also among the department’s issues

It is no secret that the USA are more interested in the Pacific than Europe and the Middle East. I was at an interesting talk by Andrew Neal who touched on this over a year ago. Essentially the States are energy self sufficient and they see the future as the Pacific. That is also why the States have their Navy concentrated in the Pacific and have done for a number of years now. Whilst nobody in the West will say it also, many western countries would prefer Russia runs Syria through Assad than the alternative.

The Middle East is on Europe's and Russia's doorstep so it doesn't make sense for us to follow the US led coalition or policies. Europe and Russia need to form a new alliance and tackle the mess the US has made ourselves.

I really think this is the end of the diehard relationship to be honest. The US blew it by taking us into a dubious war followed by failed policies in Libya and Syria, and we, and the rest of the world, will never forget that. In this media age they have been fully exposed and history won't be kind to them.

If you listen to Andrew Neal then there has not been a special relationship for years. It is a cliche repeated by the press but in reality, American foreign policy is driven by the Pacific and that is where their navy is.
