Also to be fair it’s not much use until we know KO time, by which point the price will no doubt be much higher as the club will have bought a load of tickets 🙄
Yup. And to the point someone else made about the Eurostar that's only more expensive until dynamic pricing kicks in. Just before our Europa League dates had been decided a flight from Gatwick to Amsterdam was cheaper than the train. Then, very quickly more expensive, then sold out. We took the Eurostar. As well as being available and comparatively priced it's basically four hours on a mobile bar and you can walk straight off at the other end instead of standing in Schiphol's 60 minute Brexit queue.

Anyway, I digress. But that £90 return almost certainly won't exist when the date is confirmed. And, in even better news, LNER have tried to copy the dynamic pricing with only limited Advance tickets and no Off Peak (although hopefully the Seat 61 hack still works).

My idea of fun is to watch players larger than a centimetre in height.
A view of Newcastle in the fog does not come close to compensating for the extended distance from the playing surface.
My opinion of course.
I sat at the bak of the 02 Arena for a gig once. Spent the entire time watching the giant video screens because you couldn't see anything anyway.

I sat at the front at the London Stadium and did the same as you

Never mind what arse time and date the kick off will be! Isn't it seriously time the football authorities insisted that away fans weren't tucked up in that top corner where you need oxygen and can almost see Hadrian's Wall? It's a piss take that all the other clubs comply and Newcastle have side stepped it for too long. Now just maybe originally there were genuine problems but they've had plenty of time to sort out and it's not like they don't have cash to spend.
What did they claim the problems were?

Newcastle have been given an indefinite exemption as they claim analysis of every option on putting away fans pitch side showed an increased risk of confrontation and disorder between opposing fans, especially when exiting the stadium.

I can't see how moving the away fans pitch side would increase the risk, anymore than it's a risk at any stadium, other than currently away fans exiting St James Park are probably too knackered to do anything else having walked all those stairs twice.

….and the odd thing about that is it’s quite possibly the friendliest set of fans in the PL with one of the lowest risks of disorder anyway 🙄 (until Sunderland get promoted anyway)

I know it’s pointless to continue bemoaning the lack of consideration for fans who actually attend games but it’s near enough only two weeks now until the games are played and fans still don’t know when they’re happening. For anyone with significant travel it’s very poor!
Agreed.

Whilst I appreciate they would want all fourth-round ties to play out first, in order to have a definitive set of fixtures to work with, there's really no excuse to not have had Plans A and B on Tuesday, waiting for Exeter v Forest to play out, that could have been announced first thing on Wednesday morning.

I think that assumes that they care enough about fans to do this. It is completely totally achievable but needs all parties involved (including telly people) to give a toss. I just don't think they do.

It's nonsense isn't it. You've still got to exit the stadium at some point whether you're in the Upper Tier or Lower Tier! They just don';t want to do it and as always the authorities are being weak and not enforcing it.

Tell that to the horses who've turned up at matches.

The Emirates FA cup is it not?
With fixtures negotiated between the FA and the TV companies.
What's a few thousand Brighton away fans?

Don't forget that they can't possibly do a Risk Assessment until all the qualifiers are known.
This would have been a decision taken by a committee, with the random suggestion agreed by nodding (dogs).
Probably the same sort of committee who allowed our students to take exams on 'offline' computers (because students can't use pens)
Then deciding to connect the computers to the internet (so exam papers could be uploaded to a central repository for marking)
Without considering whether students might download prepared essays from their onespace
And hundreds of exam misconduct hearings at my uni later.....

Apologies for conflating two sources of extreme disdain into a mini rant.
I promise I'll never do it again.
Today.

At least it will be a historical game, given that Semi-Automated Offside Technology will be in use at all 5th Round games being played at PL grounds.

It’s total bollocks. You come out the exit straight into Newcastle fans then have to walk around 3/4 of the ground to get to the station. If they wanted to avoid confrontation we’d be at the other end lower tier for a speedier exit.

We should put the Newcastle fans at the top of Ditchling Beacon next time we play and see how they like it.

Never had any issues with coming out of the stadium and straight into mixing the Newcastle fans, their fans are normally great and welcoming. Premier Leagues being taken for a ride. If their new ground development happens should be an end to.this farce.
