I did a day trip flight for the league game. BA from Heathrow, up early, back the airport quite quickly and back home. Worked really well with the direct link to the airport. Problem is you can't book it until you know the date and if you're not quick enough you'll miss out or prices will rocket. Will also only work if it's not later than 3pm kick off.

I don't think I'll bother with this regardless though.

Do we know it yet? When will we find out?

I actually quite like the away end at Newcastle
I like view and the sense it gives of the city

My idea of fun is to watch players larger than a centimetre in height.
A view of Newcastle in the fog does not come close to compensating for the extended distance from the playing surface.
My opinion of course.

Imagine if that midget Palace keeper who's on loan to Exeter ever played at (the other) St James's Park?

You'd think they were down to ten men.

There only one St James’s Park , Exeters ground is St James park.

Hope so, that would mean an easy day trip by plane
I’m not criticising you, but I really think that internal flights in England should disappear in this day and age. At the same time, and to help it along, maybe someone should look long and hard at the price differential between train and plane and work out where the train money is going. And that applies internationally as well, where European trips via Eurostar are usually double (at least) the cost of a flight. I can’t believe it’s cheaper to keep a few tons of metal and people in the air compared to rolling them along on ball bearings.

Am I missing something , quick scan on sky scanner

LHR 07:20AM latest flight that gets you there.

That's a 5:20am check in and 1.5 hrs to LHR. That's an alarm wake up of 3:30am

Getting back would need to be the (d) 20:15 Newcastle ( a 21:30) , getting back home 11:30pm ish

All for £300 + parking + petrol / taxi

Don’t disagree entirely - if the alternative was good value and reliable in this case I’d happily do it……..but all factors taken into account that seems a way off. Current airfare is less than half the rail fare and the rail journey is approx 12 hours RT - flying will be around half that including getting to and from Heathrow.

When I stopped work my commute was costing over £50 a day for a trip of less than an hour each way.

Add in the massive carbon footprint, for a football match.

It’s less than an hour to LHR at that time of day (for me) and why would you check in 2 hours ahead of a domestic flight without luggage ? Price was £90 last night - perhaps there have been a number of tickets purchased by someone in the last few hours

Edit - they haven’t- it’s still £90 not £300
