UKIP to win their 1st Parliamentary seat tomorrow ?

With a swing of this size to UKIP they have handed the next goverment to Labour a split rightish vote and a fptp system. Bet Cameron is wishing he had back voting reform now.

In fact it's easy to see the right wing vote being split and labour returning to power via the back door.

Rather like the last election then, when a similar outcome left of centre allowed the tories in through the tradesman's entrance.

Yeah i guess so. What i would think is worrying to the conservative party is that their inability to get enough labour votes to transfer directly to them is now being compounded by an erosion of their support from the right. How do they go about occupying that centre ground while keeping the right wing eurosceptic voters on board? I think they have a difficult path to navigate.

Interesting result but it must be viewed in isolation, UKIP gained votes from the Tories and the Libdems but still could not win. Labour were an irrelevance in this seat anyway so its lots to talk about but nothing of substance.

UKIP are a great little stepping stone to get shot of the Conservatives. They'll be dropped like a bad habit as soon as Tory's are out and we get a good solid Labour government back in, get this country back on track again.

Lib Dems? Tory? Labour? UKIP?

'None of the above' option please!

There were 10 other candidates to cover a range of tastes - what more do you want - unless it is for something like the Italian Comedian who has thrown that country in to turmoil.

personally i don't know whether to be delighted because the Conservatives were beaten in to third, or dismayed because UKIP came second.

Don't worry it's only dimwits like The Spanish and Bushy that vote Ukip and they are a dying breed

Don't sweat it, Cameron has already lost 3 million potential votes in the next election anyway. He's just blundering his way out of office.

Friggage talks a good game but it's a one man party which will be shown up in a proper general election when most voters revert to type.

This. There is no way he will be the PM after the next election.

The betting odds indicate it that way too , UKIP may have too much of a gap to close on LibDems but could finish ahead of the Conservatives. Nigel Farage will be over the moon if UKIP get more than 25%

27.8% of the vote. Doesn't look at all good for Dodgy Dave in 2015 , we could be looking at a Lab - LibDem coalition if Labour cannot get an overall majority.

Excellent navel gazing on 5Live at the moment, but the more things change, the more they stay the same. Disgruntled Tory Bigwig " The trouble is we are not getting our message through to the voters " Disgruntled ex Tory " it's obvious that David Cameron is not listening to the public " same old, same old.....

I assumed it was the voters who have thrown Italy into chaos?

Give the electorate a popularist pledges and they will vote for you.ie...kick out immigrants...stamp on the bankers...redistribute wealth from greedy millionaires, ...tax expensive houses.....stop politicians fiddling expenses....kill all murderers peodophiles rapists......etc etc. he just tagged into the Italian hatred of people telling them what to do with their lives.,

Haha, really astute point! Though I don't think UKIP will make a huge impact at the GE, I suspect alot Euro-sceptic conservatives will go to the polls with the intention of voting for them and come away having put their cross against the Tory candidate. It's hard to break the habit of a lifetime.
