Brighton Rock - Graham Greene.
Historically moving between seedy underworld (think Graham greene and late 80's /early 90's) into fashionable seaside resort (think prince regent or the brighton of recent times).

ps Brighton was the home Deryck Carver, the first ever Protestant martyr who was burned at the stake in Lewes in 1555. Oh, & he was also Brighton's first brewer.

Thanks for that bit of info, TT. You see, some of us Christians do enjoy the good things in life. I've had a pint of Harveys (excellent) and a half of Dark Star's Winter Warmer (superb) at the Intrepid Fox in WH tonight.

Dora Bryan (still lives in Brighton I think)
Annie Nightingale (might have been mentioned before)
Carol Barnes (ex-ITN newsreader)
Cate Blanchett used to live in Brighton, but has returned to Australia

Many West End shows start at the Theatre Royal. I think I read somewhere that it is one of the UK's oldest regional theatres (Bristol Old Vic is the oldest).

How many train stations would you say there are in Brighton & Hove? And which ones are they?

Brighton, Hove, POrtslade, Fishersgate, Southwick, Preston park, London Road, Molescombe

and in the past: Rowan avenue and the Dyke, Kemptown, Lewis Road, and Harlington/Harrington (somthing like that) road. Holland Road used to have a halt.

Wimbledon The Movie was partly filmed in Brighton.

Withdean Stadium started life as a alternative tennis venue to Wimbledon for Britains Davis Cup ties. Sadly World War. It put hopes of Davis Cup here to bed and in the 1990s a certain Lord Bracknell ordered the main tennis stadium to relocate to heaven forever, only the ticket office outside current footy ground remains.

Alexandra Bastedo is from Hove, and anyone mentioned Brian Capron yet?
