Wimbledon The Movie was partly filmed in Brighton.

Withdean Stadium started life as a alternative tennis venue to Wimbledon for Britains Davis Cup ties. Sadly World War. It put hopes of Davis Cup here to bed and in the 1990s a certain Lord Bracknell ordered the main tennis stadium to relocate to heaven forever, only the ticket office outside current footy ground remains.

Alexandra Bastedo is from Hove, and anyone mentioned Brian Capron yet?

hahaha the teacher from grange hill that claire had a made up crush on and used to write in her diary about and he almost got mistakenly done for noncing. always used to see him about.

mrs mclusky of course was another. if its not grange hill its eastbenders. they all wash up in brighton. why the council have not gone one better than putting people on buses and instigated their own walk of fame, astounds me. just the sort of f***ing deluded and pretentious thing new brightonians would LAP UP.

Brighton, Hove, POrtslade, Fishersgate, Southwick, Preston park, London Road, Molescombe

and in the past: Rowan avenue and the Dyke, Kemptown, Lewis Road, and Harlington/Harrington (somthing like that) road. Holland Road used to have a halt.

Is Aldrington still a used station?

The tunnel, which is reputedly haunted, was also the scene of one of Britain’s worst railway disasters in 1861 when a three train pile up left 23 people dead and 175 injured in the tunnel.

Thanks for that bit of info, TT. You see, some of us Christians do enjoy the good things in life. I've had a pint of Harveys (excellent) and a half of Dark Star's Winter Warmer (superb) at the Intrepid Fox in WH tonight.

Dora Bryan (still lives in Brighton I think)
Annie Nightingale (might have been mentioned before)
Carol Barnes (ex-ITN newsreader)
Cate Blanchett used to live in Brighton, but has returned to Australia

Many West End shows start at the Theatre Royal. I think I read somewhere that it is one of the UK's oldest regional theatres (Bristol Old Vic is the oldest).

Ex- living person.

Pretty sure that an episode of Only Fools & Horses was filmed on location at the allotments by the University of Brighton building by Coombe Road. Also part of it was filmed at the Grand hotel. It's the episode where they bottle and sell Peckham Spring Water.

How many train stations would you say there are in Brighton & Hove? And which ones are they?

Within the boundaries of the City of Brighton & Hove...

Brighton
Preston Park
Hove
Aldrington
Portslade
London Road
Moulsecomb
Falmer

Gawd knows where Tiddles thinks the other three are, unless he's on about the Volks.

And as for more railways per square mile (Brighton & Hove = 0.237 stations per sq. mile) than anywhere else...

when you come out of fishersgate station on the south side, the sign for West Sussex is on your right.......it's right on the border and i have a feeling that one of the entrances is within B & H (portslade) rather than fishersgate
