I can't understand why the Johnson and co keep doing/saying these stupid things and get caught lying

Shirley the Conservatives would do better if they kept their mouths shut and let their record in power over the last 10 years speak for itself

Uniting the Country, Moving Britain forward on the world stage, Improving the NHS, Improving Education, Building more Housing, Reducing crime, Reducing Poverty, Reducing debt etc

I think you've over-stated Swinson's importance. Nick Clegg managed to get into these leader's debates and cut through with his 'third way'. Swinson was deprived of this opportunity which then groups her with Farage and SNP which ties one hand behind her back.

She's gone for 'Bollocks to Brexit' which has riled the 17 million and - rather curiously given the potentially catastrophic fall-out from a Johnson Brexit - a big chunk of the 16 million too.

As for Chuka, describing him as a slimeball is just plain bizarre - a description more apt for a serial liar like Johnson or a backstabber like Gove. I get he has a credibility issue by belonging to 3 political parties within a year but then he is representative of the non-Tory political world we find ourselves in now and post-Brexit. Personally, I think what he says is credible and he represents a large chunk of the British electorate which is Remain, tolerant, liberal.

I think it is inevitable that at some stage after Brexit there will be the creation of a UK-style 'Democrat' party and Umunna's shifting political views now are symptomatic of the struggle going on being able to compete with the Tories in a 'First Past The Post' electoral system. After this election and the fall-out from Brexit there will be many traditional Labour voters scratching their heads thinking why did they vote for the Brexit Party and get seduced by the Brexit lies.

Somehow the left think they occupy some moral high ground. Not convinced.

Probably for two reasons:
a) homelessness, crime and other undesirable trends don't tend to rise on the watch of the left.
b) the Conservatives at the moment (not necessarily in the past) are prone to blatant popularism and bare-faced lying in a way that doesn't happen on anything like the same scale on the right.

I do find this narrative that anyone who might vote Tory is ‘stupid’, ‘nasty’ etc, extraordinary. If you are one of those in that category and IF (as seems likely) the Tories get more votes than Labour, it simply means that more people disagreed with your opinion then agreed. I really find it hard to differentiate between the arrogance of the right (Mogg etc) and the left. Somehow the left think they occupy some moral high ground. Not convinced.

No surprise that it's many of the same people who couldn't cope with people voting a different way at the referendum. Perhaps they should visit the Finchley and Golders Green constituency and tell the Jewish community how putting Corbyn's Labour party into government is a superior moral choice.

In terms of 'they think its all over', I have a feeling that Trump's visit may completely upset the apple cart. Not sure what will happen, or who will benefit/lose as a consequence but just have a suspicion he will have more of an impact than the launch of all the recent manifestos put together!
