So how will Jezza vote on Brexit then? He whipped his MPs to block every single Commons vote with the express intention of forcing the Government out. He's like every other opposition leader - wants to be in Government and will adopt strategies and tactics accordingly to try and achieve this.

And its pretty hard to deny links with the IRA when you share a platform with them......

Maybe an interesting read. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/nov/20/corbyn-terrorist-sympathiser-double-standards

He didn't say that though. Again, I'm sorry as this doesn't fit your narrative, but just making things up puts you in the same place as the person you are being critical of, and I'm sure you wouldn't want that in this instance.

Boris Johnson actually said “I’d rather be dead in a ditch” when asked about extending the Brexit deadline which is completely different to what you are claiming he said.

You’re probably right.

Nah - I'm simply not having it.

I've also covered this subject before on this thread - we don't allow our politicians to say "I don't know - I'll check and get back to you" - you'd be copying and pasting links to tweets saying stuff like "UNBELIEVABLE - Boris Johnson don't know about the BIGGEST issue in Telford!!!11!!!!1"

He was very clearly trying to take a read from Hancock and got it wrong. His shortcoming is not being briefed and prepared for what was likely to come at him.

y/[/url])

Hmmmm. I don't think I would be copying and pasting links like that, to be fair.

https://www.shropshirestar.com/news...usion-over-telford-ae-as-boris-comes-to-town/
He said on stage: "I'm looking at (Health Secretary) Matt Hancock here because I know that we have kept the A&E open, and we will ensure that it is open and I will absolutely insist on that and I know that Matt will be very happy to give you more details afterwards. We will certainly make sure that the A&E in Telford is kept open."

It was not initially clear whether the Prime Minister meant the A&E as it currently operates or the A&E local, however Mr Hancock soon confirmed there are no plans to change the Future Fit proposals which will leave Shropshire with one full A&E centre at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The consultant-led women's and children's services in Telford are also set to close under Future Fit.

Mr Hancock said: "We're going ahead with the plan and that's backing the decision that I published a month ago."

It's not the truth, that's for sure.

(My thoughts on this may be affected by the fact that the Tories seem to be happy to stand up and bend and stretch the truth and lie without any recourse, yes, but then maybe they need to stop doing it).

Ours was also in for the 12th...........in Buckinghamshire. With no hotel allowance. :lolol:

Easiest no show I've ever had. "Sorry I have to work from home and vote". Thursday night will be spent in front ot the telly, perhaps with something cold, and I'll still be less tired and hungover than my colleagues in the morning!

I might have to give it a swerve anyway now (other reasons)..............if not, will stay in London. I can actually get a hotel for about what the daily return rail fare is, so usually do that if a late night out is on the cards.

My main entertainment will be seeing whether Duncan Smith and Raab get booted out or not.

The IDS defeat would be sweet for me. Going back to the 90’s, always thought he was an unjustifiably arrogant tw*t. Have come across some people like him, nasty snides, and very punchable.

None of that contradicts what I said. Jezza's position on Brexit has been honestly unclear (if that's a phrase) from the get go. He has said conference will vote on the manifesto proposal and Clause V will ratify it because that's how the Labour Party works. And, he's said he'll be neutral if there is a confirmatory referendum, which is entirely the correct position. As for whipping his MPs against the government he was the official opposition leader FFS

I don't even know what your last sentence is supposed to mean. He no longer "shares a platform with them" and if you think that it's you that's lying. He has undeniably been involved with past leaders of it and so have the Tories. That's how the Good Friday Agreement works. And he's never denied meeting them publically for peace talks before the whole peace process gained traction. If there is evidence in the public domain it is very hard to lie about it. Whereas there is actual footage of Boris saying, back in the day, that he'd support remaining in the EU. Trump. meanwhile, has been caught lying literally thousands of times.

How did the bumbling clown get a round of applause for that?

Because anything he or his party does can be deflected by shifting the question onto Corbyn and his position on Brexit.

It's frustratingly effective. Note that before he launched into his mumbling about Snarks and theorems he said something along the lines of "I've been told Labour have something similar", presumably referring to some Labour Twitter account that changed it's name during a live TV debate that seemingly only he knows about.

He is asked a question, says something about Labour doing it as well and then launches into "Corbyn blah blah blah" and it works every time. The question is forgotten. His voters are appeased because they've had their daily reminder that Corbyn is a commy / racist / whatever, he gets his applause and the world keeps on spinning.

It's brilliant and so f**king annoying I just want to choke the ******* until his left eye pops out of the socket.

I know.

I still feel guilty when I don't strike so sometimes a bit of rightous self-justification makes me feel better :lolol:

It does with me too......usually if I have had a disagreement with my lovely wife and then, realising I was in the wrong, I sometimes try and think up some cunning reason to justify my original stance.
Privately I know I am being a toad and so I try and get round her by offering to make her a cup of tea!:D

I find myself wavering for the first time since the election was announced. I was always going to vote for the LibDems but Swinson was so wet and overly apologetic on the last televised leader debate that I now think she is a busted flush. I now think I may end up voting for the magic grandpa.

Not that it'll matter. The Tories will get in because the electorate are made up of f**king idiots:

Harsh Simster.
Those who will vote Tory are not all f...ing idiots, many are just f...ing scared of what Magic Grandpa and Malevolent McDonnell would do to the economy!
As you say, though, your vote won't matter in Reigate.
Besides our political differences, I hope all is well with you in the old town that I am still very fond of!

I fully accept there are people like that but the NINETEEN point Conservative lead is not because some are scared of Corbyn wrecking the economy, it is because they must have Brexit at all costs and have swallowed the Tory narrative (backed by foreign owned media) that it is everybody else's fault that this hasn't yet happened. People in Bolton (for example) have never voted Tory, but they will now because they don't like the EU and firmly believe what they've been told. I'm sorry, these people are stubborn and stupid.

And I'm no socialist but refuse to believe Corbyn could screw up this country any more than the Conservatives have managed. They have been an absolute disaster.

Vote for whichever party has the best chance of beating the Tories in your seat.

Obviously I would if it was clear, but the last election was:

31,000 Tory
10,000 Labour
5,000 LibDem
2,000 Green

None of them have a chance, and if you felt they did then how to you choose between Lab and LD if you're a passionate remainer?

The worst thing is that Crispin Blunt is THE worst MP I can imagine anyone having. He is ERG, his voting record is appalling - it is clear he doesn't care about the disadvantaged, he is utterly principle-free and the only campaign he's ever embarked on was to legalise poppers. He's gay, go figure. One last thing, my wife is on a political Facebook group where someone asked if anyone had any dealings with him. When you write to him, he gives the blandest answers possible and never takes up a constituent's case. Appalling man. If we have to have a Tory, I wouldn't mind if he was actually worthy of being an MP, but Blunt really isn't.

Crispin Blunt - is that rhyming slang?

What was the local split of the Euro election?

Gina Miller's tactical voting website at www.remainunited.org suggests you vote Lib Dem in Reigate

He was very clearly trying to take a read from Hancock and got it wrong. His shortcoming is not being briefed and prepared for what was likely to come at him.

(As it happens the A&E in Telford is remaining open, but it is being changed based on recommendations of a body that is independent of government - https://www.shropshirestar.com/news...go-ahead-with-emergency-centre-in-shrewsbury/)

So, if I understand this right, you are suggesting that because Johnson wasn't briefed he he wasn't in a position to actually face a Q&A session and therefor not in a position to know whether he was lying or not ?

Now I have heard from a number of sources that he has always been too lazy to read his briefs, a constant source of frustration from those that prepare them. Maybe it just me that thinks that reading your briefs and being prepared for what you are doing should be the very least expected from any Government Minister ?

But, just to be clear, your defence of Johnson on this occasion is 'He wasn't being duplicitous, because that would have required a level of competence that he didn't possess'
