Owen is pro Labour policies, not necessarily pro Corbyn.

The public would do well to remember this is not a presidential campaign and not inflict self harm over one man.

That should equally apply to all party leaders, but in your case won't.

Perhaps the Labour party might produce another electable leader.

Another student asked if he considered his relationship with the Murdoch press a necessary evil. Blair said: “Yes. We basically looked at the history of the Labour Party over the past 18 years and at the savaging that we got in the right-wing media, and we decided that we had to at least diminish the hostility, even if it wasn’t possible always to get them onside. It was always one of the things I was most uncomfortable about. On the other hand I have to say that in its early days it worked.”

He also pointed out that the newspapers were different then: “The Daily Mail when I came to power was pro-Europe. I don’t think the editor-in-chief of the time, who tragically died a year into the Labour government [Sir David English], would ever have allowed it to go into this bellicose anti-Europe position.”

Why?

He's asking that people put policy over personality.

If he feels one of the parties has an arse of a leader AND shit policies, that is something else entirely.

With all these pledges no one is going to reduce the countries debt, what is an acceptable level of debt / borrowing to income? After years of austerity have the country reduced our level of debt just to go back to the dark days of boom bust. I just don't get it and they are all as bad as each other.

The Tories have been very successful in reducing the UK's budget deficit. The chart clearly shows that the global financial crisis dramatically changed the UK's deficit in 2009, with Labour in power, which continued into 2010 (Cameron was elected in May 2010) before the Tory austerity machine kicked in, with the results clear to see.

Those on the left side of the fence talk about the Tories growing UK debt significantly, which is clearly true, but there's very little to suggest it would have been any different under a Labour administration, at least in the early 2010s when the country was very much on the back foot after the financial crisis.

Ohhhh a screen shot! One that's over twenty years old as well.

The Sun backed Blair because it was obvious that he had a juggernaut of support behind him and they hate backing a loser. In general The Sun will try to shape public opinion, but when it cannot it will try and reflect it. It's all about sales.

These days The Sun would not be able to back even the most reasonable and charismatic centre-left leader because it would completely undermine their position on Brexit. The world has moved on a bit.

I've heard it said that for a developed country a debt to GDP ratio of 60% is OK, 40% for a developing country.

Thanks, that doesn't make good reading, how does this compare to other countries? Sorry to be a numpty but if you ran a High Street business like that you would end up in the gutter.
Which party is best for finance?

Wow, I think that graph was George Osborne's wet dream from about 2012. The reality as of 22nd October 2019

The UK's public finances have slipped further into the red after the government borrowed billions more than expected in the first half of the year.

The gap between income and expenditure was £7bn higher than in the same period last year, official figures revealed, leaving the UK on course for an annual deficit of £50bn
.

And with the Tories Little England Brexit disaster looming and a spending arms race with Labour looming, I'd say your graph is now pure fantasy

Jennifer Arcuri ranting on Victoria Derbyshire this morning. Talk about a woman scorned! Not doing Boris any favours. Or herself really

Time was when being a lying serial shagger would ruin your career. I honestly think Johnson could pork The Queen and still get in.

Corbyn = Messiah,Johnson = anti-Christ in his simplistic view.

'electable leader' is not the same as 'The Sun-endorsed leader'..... thank goodness!

Labour will never win if not endorsed by the MSM.

A screen-shot from 20 years ago because that was the last time Labour had an electable leader.

Wow.

That is vital to know about.

Depends on the details, I guess.

If he's been cheating on his partner, and shagging any number of legal, consenting adults - agree - not big news - except as an illustration of his character.

Unless of course, his method of seduction, involved further misuse of public funds, favours or privileges.
