I think he will go to jail if appeal doesn't overturn. He'll get a fine ( = slap on the wrist ) and then merrily go on to beat the worst candidate the Democrats could put forward.
Of course, in any normal country his party would no longer endorse him as their candidate, but we are where we are.
Innocent or not innocent.“I’m a very innocent man”

And before anyone says that the jury was corrupt, the juror that gets their news from Trump’s own echo chamber and also Twitter found him guilty
Threat of prison or leave public life and politics. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has a very convenient health issue which will keep him out of the prison but bar him from politics. He'll get a fine ( = slap on the wrist ) and then merrily go on to beat the worst candidate the Democrats could put forward.
Of course, in any normal country his party would no longer endorse a convicted perp as their candidate, but we are where we are.
Couldn't they come up with a joke anagram that's a bit closer than that?Did you know that Republican is an anagram of 'parody human'? It is, if you believe it is. And I want to believe.
The 'joke' is that it isn't close. Not a very good joke, perhaps.Couldn't they come up with a joke anagram that's a bit closer than that?
That's a very unique take on the matter...Innocent or not innocent.
"Very innocent" means somewhere on a sliding scale. He's an idiot.
Lol.
Like the bone spurs in his heels that kept him out of Vietnam?Threat of prison or leave public life and politics. Wouldn’t be surprised if he has a very convenient health issue which will keep him out of the prison but bar him from politics.
and babies. Jesus, guns and babies.Voting Trump in and supporting his moves to become a dictator seems to be the only way forward.
While everything else rots he is the only pure and godly thing left in the country. . . Well, guns are godly too, Trump and guns, Jesus would approve.
Not at allI’ve spent a lot of time on here defending the USA, but I’m gradually losing faith. You were right all along, the USA is currently a laughing stock.
Nothing to do with the evidence then! What a bizarre state of affairs. That’s the nub of it all isn’t it.
You.gov did a snap poll after the verdict but it wasn’t clear whether Trump’s conviction would impact negatively on his campaign.
“Americans' immediate reactions are polarized along party lines, with 86% of Democrats but just 15% of Republicans believing the former president is guilty of felony charges”
That could suggest Trump’s campaign could be turbo charged by the verdict as you say but I’m inclined to think this will be amongst the MAGA Republicans rather than moderate/swing voters so hopefully not enough to swing the polls further toward Trump.
Interestingly
“Many Americans say that in theory, a felony conviction is a bad thing for a presidential candidate. Before the verdict, only 14% of U.S. adult citizens said a convicted felon should be allowed to be president, while 68% said they shouldn't. That includes 87% of Democrats and 49% of Republicans who said a felon shouldn't be allowed to be president.
It's unclear if those general feelings will have a big impact on how voters will see Trump in particular — or if the verdict will change people's views about felons eligibility for the presidency.”
But then again …
Rachel Maddow ( whose anchoring I highly rate) suggests that this will have a negative effect - that a significant swing is possible which could cost Trump a close election: Her excellent video Analysis is here

On the subject of whether he'll be able to vote in Florida, given that he is a convicted felon.
In Florida, a felon convicted in Florida loses their right to vote until they've completed all their sentence and paid all related fines and costs. However, Florida law says that if you are convicted in another state, then that states rules will apply (except in a few causes of particularly violent and / or sexual crimes). So it's NY law that applies here. In NY, a felon can vote, so long as they aren't currently incarcerated. So, likely, convict Trump will be able to vote in November.
Note: I am not a lawyer, this is just my understanding from what I've read from various sources.
Of course, if NY does actually stick him in Rikers Island, then he wouldn't be able to vote from there. But this seems unlikely since he is a first-time offender. However, there is the chance that the judge will also take into account Trump's total lack of remorse and his continued attacks on his court and decide to throw the book at him. But this judge has already tried his best not to jail Trump for contempt already, so I think he is well aware of how problematic it would be to jail him. Even if the judge did decide to give him the maximum four years, I'd imagine he would remain free pending appeals that may take months or years to resolve. And, of course, if Trump wins in November he will not go to jail until he leaves office. Note that he wouldn't be able to pardon himself, since this is a state conviction, not a federal one, but it is established that you cannot jail the sitting president.
A bit like being " A little bit Pregnant " !Innocent or not innocent.
