You.gov did a snap poll after the verdict but it wasn’t clear whether Trump’s conviction would impact negatively on his campaign.

That could suggest Trump’s campaign could be turbo charged by the verdict as you say but I’m inclined to think this will be amongst the MAGA Republicans rather than moderate/swing voters so hopefully not enough to swing the polls further toward Trump.

On the subject of whether he'll be able to vote in Florida, given that he is a convicted felon.

In Florida, a felon convicted in Florida loses their right to vote until they've completed all their sentence and paid all related fines and costs. However, Florida law says that if you are convicted in another state, then that states rules will apply (except in a few causes of particularly violent and / or sexual crimes). So it's NY law that applies here. In NY, a felon can vote, so long as they aren't currently incarcerated. So, likely, convict Trump will be able to vote in November.

Note: I am not a lawyer, this is just my understanding from what I've read from various sources.

Of course, if NY does actually stick him in Rikers Island, then he wouldn't be able to vote from there. But this seems unlikely since he is a first-time offender. However, there is the chance that the judge will also take into account Trump's total lack of remorse and his continued attacks on his court and decide to throw the book at him. But this judge has already tried his best not to jail Trump for contempt already, so I think he is well aware of how problematic it would be to jail him. Even if the judge did decide to give him the maximum four years, I'd imagine he would remain free pending appeals that may take months or years to resolve. And, of course, if Trump wins in November he will not go to jail until he leaves office. Note that he wouldn't be able to pardon himself, since this is a state conviction, not a federal one, but it is established that you cannot jail the sitting president.

If they did stick Trump in Rikers Island wouldn't it be funny if they put him in the same cell that his good buddy Jeffrey Epstein was murdered in. Wouldn't that brighten up the ex-presidents days in jail.

- probably not a good idea to accuse the DoJ of ‘politicising’ justice and ‘corruption’ when the Judge has retired to chambers to consider the severity of your punishment - nor a good idea to dog whistle one’s supporters into making a violent protest if the Judge gives a tough sentence, given one’s other criminal investigations into insurrection …

But Trump is Trump and so will likely tread some fine lines around doing exactly that.
